probably not a bad idea. We may have to disable vpns soon if spammers get too bad but it really hasn't been as dreadful as expected.

this was the first album i reviewed on da shemmy so it's gonna be the first here too (i reviewed six albums there before it died btw)

DAY 1: GOING UP BY THE RAH BAND
in the first listen i really enjoyed it as the original score i gave it was 5/5 and it basically stayed the same since its still a very good album, a bit short of a tracklist but somewhat long since the average song length is about 5 minutes up. i always thought this was a band with multiple people but apparently its just one guy, idk who the vocalist is and didn't really bother searching for it but the vocals are all very serene and incredibly good

very very good tracklist, i consider it skipless honestly, originally i didn't really like Party Games but relistening to it it's one of my favorites very good because i like the chorus a lot although it doesn't beat the ones with the robot vocals or something, idk it just sounds robotic but it appears mainly on Hunger for Your Jungle Love and Rock Me Down to Rio, which is the best song on this album for me, Sam the Samba Man is close because of the chorus and instrumental especially near the end but after hearing both again i prefer Rock Me Down to Rio

the instrumentation is genuinely amazing like its so addicting or something. the two opening tracks are a perfect example for me because the melody on both are very catchy, Rock Me Down to Rio is just very nice and i'll keep bringing up this song because its just too good, i still think the highlights are mostly the vocals, the woman doing these has a nice voice, probably not the same lady doing it on every track but still. Perfumed Garden and Tears & Rain are also a highlight of this album, i love the vocals and the overall vibe but to me it doesn't beat the more upbeat songs although they're still very sweet songs, the only song i didn't enjoy as much as the others (i still think its good doe) is Two Bodies and it's just the chorus that i can kinda look past

Riding On a Fantasy was also good regarding instrumentation and apparently it had vocals but the version of the album i was hearing didn't so whatever, i guess its just a very pretty album after hearing it again, really nice and i recommend it strongly, that's it for this one

favorite tracks: rock me down to rio, sam the samba man, party games
score: 5/5 (idk much about how to score btw)

DAY 2: SWIMMING BY SWUM
I had found this album randomly while looking for another one and then reviewed it, i never really went back to it so im listening to it again, i enjoyed the sound but i do have to say it feels like something from 2018, because it is from 2018 and this is like the type of things people would find cool in that time, its just sometimes kinda gay but there's good songs, i preferred the more chill vocals other than the rap ones because i dont really think it fits the album or something idk

the first time i listened to it i didn't know it was about some anime called golden boy (i think that's the name i didn't google it) i guess if i knew about it or was a fan of the anime i would've enjoyed more but i don't really watch anime, besides that the sound of the album is good, i really liked the list of songs of Garden Rose through Paris, i think some of the songs could've been longer but its fine as it is, this album overall has a short tracklist and runtime but it does a good use of the samples throughout its runtime, it should've been focused more on jazz other than this mix of lo-fi and rap or something. Paris was very good and it was mostly jazz, again it should've been longer but my point still stands

i think to me where it falls short is by the end, the three last songs mostly, like i dont hate rap or anything but it just doesn't fit this album, Shaolin Slumz samples Wu-Tang Clan i think and it could've been used better, i did say i liked the jazz part more but Trees mixes jazz, lofi and rap which again doesn't work, im not saying it sounds bad i just cant really listen to it without it feeling dated, Swervin' could've been better if it was just the instrumental but whatever, i liked the album, just not some parts of it, would recommend if you like lo-fi or anime or jazz or whatever

favorite tracks: garden rose, leila, paris
score: 3/5
its not bad or anything i just dont like the aesthetics sometimes

i heard this album on a livestream

DAY 3: ADL BY YEAT
issa double album, i was waiting for kanye's album to drop that day and the two had the same release to date, there was a guy streaming and waiting for kanye's album too and he just put this on and played it. i've never been a fan of yeat, mostly because i never really listened to his music, no judgement to him but this album is pretty bad honestly

like, the autotune is really misused imo, it has cool beats like in Face The Flamë but the autotune doesn't flow well and just doesn't sound good in general, like yeat tries to do a deep voice while in autotune but it makes his voice sound weird. its like he tries to be experimental but it doesn't work, the elton john feature should've worked in Lose Control but yeat just ruins it, as i said the beats are good but the autotune ruins, if it was just used better and this nigga stopped making that stupid voice it would've been better, i think the only track i came back to was Griddlë with don toliver, its a very good song because of don toliver's vocals

i guess that's it for the first half, My Way and Liv Likë Dis had potential but whatever, i used to like Dangerous House but listening to it again i don't really like it that much. the second half mogs the shit out of the first half, its not saying much since both aren't really good but still. i liked Went Wrong because it has 070 shake and the features in general are good, i guess the problem to me is the main artist kek, if he just sang instead of rapping it would've been a more enjoyable experience to me

like nigga stop raping the autotune

early one today
this is the fourth out of the six i did on da shemmey

DAY 4: BALLADS 1 BY JOJI
im not the type of guy to listen to joji since he's a emo asian or something like that yeah but i heard this album since joji is featured on yeat's adl, which was traaaaaash but i thought joji would better and im right because this album is alright, surprisingly i liked some of the songs despite thinking joji's whole thing is just faggy af, there's still some tracks where the sadboy stuff is too much like RIP and NO FUN but there's some that i could overlook it like COME THRU, also the intro track is meh, i didn't care for it

i song i always liked and have been listening to ever since my first listen of this was WANTED U, the beat is amazing and his vocals flow really well, the guitar at the end is also a nice touch, genuinely amazing song, very good experience, best off the song and best joji song ever even if i only listened to this album in my entire life. SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK is the most famous one but i liked it since im a basic bitch, WANTED U thru to CAN'T GET OVER YOU is such a great track sequence, easily top 3 off the album, i wish the latter was longer since clams casino did a good job in it and joji sang well but its still good

i liked TEST DRIVE even if it has that whole sad retarded emo cringey vibe but its one of those songs in here that i can look past it. some other more snca songs i liked were WHY AM I STILL IN LA, I'LL SEE YOU IN 40 and XNXX, 40 was a very good sendoff for the album. im still surprised in how much i liked this album, joji has a great vision but it could be better without overdoing his whole sad persona, i guess i'll listen to more of his stuff like nectar and the one he made recently, its just a nice experience but i could see why some people wouldn't like it boss

favorite tracks: wanted u, can't get over you, slow dancing in the dark

ppd boosting /qa/ all day nigga

DAY 5: BULLY BY KANYE WEST
i listened to it the day it released and me and some friends had stayed up to listen to it only for it not to drop on time kek, i've been playing various songs on this album ever since it dropped because im a huge ye fan and i like most stuff he puts out, this was delayed a thrembillion times but i'd say it was worth it since the earlier rendition of it was all shitty ai vocals and now its an actually good album, insane going from heil hitler to this

i really like ALL THE LOVE, i remember when it was still titled gas chambers and i used to listen to it a lot, the talkbox guy did an amazing job at it and the sampling is also very nice, besides that after listening to the album more i began liking BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and DAMN more, originally i hadn't liked those two and felt like the vocals on them were bad but i warmed up to them, PREACHER MAN is just fucked doe that song sucks and the ai version was better. some of the songs should be longer like PUNCH DRUNK, it should have a second verse or something because that sample is too good for a one-minute song, HIGHS AND LOWS also was a bit disappointing since pomme didn't clear the sample but i still liked it

i saw that a deluxe was coming but i doubt it honestly, also i thought it was gonna be like donda and the life of pablo where he was gonna update it and mix it better but i dont think kanye is gonna do that but whatever wooooooooooooorkss, that song is so good i loved how it sounded like college dropout. also ye fucking ruined CIRCLES its so shit now compared to what it was before. i saw there's still ai on some songs like THIS ONE HERE, LAST BREATH and even all the love but they're good so idc, it sucks that ye took LOSING YOUR MIND off the album because i liked that song

last breath was good also it was originally in my top 3 with this one here and the title track, which are all good especially the title track but again, after relistening i just liked my current top 3 better, the features are very good also and i guess that's it, it was better than donda 2 and vultures 1 (that album was good btw) and vultures 2 and his most sovlfvll album since the first donda

favorite tracks: all the love, sisters and brothers, whatever works

DAY 6: OLD WALTZES BY NIKOLAI NAZAROV (i think its not just by him but the other name is too long and im lazy)
fifth or sixth time hearing this and its still good, first time was because i stumbled upon it randomly
im not one to larp as le beethoven enjoyer because classical music is snca but i've always liked the songs in here, they have a very good vibe or something idk its just pretty, i like how grandiose most of the stuff sounds (i guess its normal since its orchestral kek) but also there's some songs with nice melodies like On the hills of Manchuria, the more orchestral sound is so good its insane, the trumpets on Waves of the Danube are crazyyyy, idk the other instruments but its all good too, danube and A Little Birch Tree sound a bit similar but also not, both are very good to listen to

zero misses whatsoever, i would say its surprising but classical music is actually very pretty and maybe i should larp as a beethoven enjoyer. the music is pretty and the cover too and just everything is very charming, i remember the first time i listened to it i searched for more stuff like this and found some although i didn't really got that much into classical, i should because its such a beautiful genre, i guess the only ones i really saw much was stuff by prokofiev like cinderella's waltz and also aram khachaturian, i think im confusing classical music with waltzes but its the same stuff so whatever

some highlights for meare Remembrance, Broken Strings and Blue Night, but the one i liked the most was Sirens, it starts all calm and then shifts into a very beautiful waltz with a bunch of instruments, easily the best off the album even if its 8 minutes long. i also really liked Daydream and Orchid, mostly orchid since its a pretty chill song or something, Autumn Dreams closes the album and its very enjoyable just like the rest of the songs here, imo it mixes most of the stuff that made the album good, also some of the melody got stuck in my head kek, the ending of it is also very nice and a bit sad sounding

i remember sending this to a friend once and he liked it so yeah i would recommend it

favorite tracks: sirens, autumn dreams, waves of the danube
score: 5/5
tuff
not gonna sleep already so might as well do this now

DAY 7: THE NEVER STORY BY JID
jid is a snca rapper who makes
>muh conscious rap
but who cares as long as the music is good, kanye dropped a nazi song with a good beat and i listened to it. its a enjoyable album, his voice is sometimes a bit annoying but i think it works good with the beats such as in General, NEVER also has this weird voice in the beginning but it gets better the more you listen to it, he also has some crazy rhymes and the deliver is like in a weird pronounciation, i never heard a full album of his but i did hear a bit of forever story and that album seems like a better version of this one, its on my list along with a zillion other albums too but im not reviewing that so whatever

this album is clearly influenced by kendrick and kendrick makes good music (sometimes) and i never got into kendrick THAT much but he's alright. the beats in this are veeeeeeeery good, Somebody i liked the most but never has a crazy beat switch and D/vision is just a good song overall and paired with the rapping it makes it near perfection honestly, maybe im being too much and glazing too much but it is what it is, i cant stress enough how good never is, just most of the songs in here are great, the sampling is good too like in Hoodboger and EdEddnEddy, it samples a tribe called quest very well, also listening a bit more to D/vision its soooo good i love it, i love those type of starry beats or something and the feature by earthgang is good as well

actually honestly this is way too underrated, i did say he is snca but damn i didn't expect it to be that good, like those first songs are insane (not counting Doo Wop since its kinda of not a full song or whatever) like general to d/vision is a crazy run. Hereditary is eh i didn't like it, too much singing, not that i dont like singing but this is gay and pop or however the anti-popular goes, its not like bad or anything but its not for me, same with All Bad, jid does better rapping imo, after that it goes upward again because Underwear is very good and picks up the album well, its very smooth

i wish 8701 because that song is too good to be only 1 minute and 51 seconds, idk if its the autotune or something but jid's voice sounds nice-er in this one
i guess the only misses for me were hereditary, all bad and LAUDER, but it makes up for it like in the more rap-based stuff like somebody. i realized i didn't talk about lauder but i dont think its a very good closer to this album, it just sounds weird but whatever, its a great album i like it very much

DAY 9: LES FAILLES CACHÉES BY POMME
i dont speak french
this album reminds me of kids see ghosts for some reason, i thought i wouldn't really like it but its great i like pomme's vocals and the instrumentation is very nice, like there's some weird ethereal vibe or something, like on grandiose, soleil soleil and chapelle, which are all great songs, i especially liked chapelle, it kinda sounds weird with all those chants or something but i liked it

also this album has like some halloween version with thirty songs i aint listening to that gng the version i listened to isn't really long, its like 16 songs and probably twenty minutes i would guess but im not good at math. a very good highlight was sorcières, by the middle it becomes a entirely different song and its sooooooo good, like this album has insane run from the start to la lumière. i was gonna give this album a 4 but i'd say this is better than bully, about on the same level as the never story but like, better

out of the sixteen songs here i didn't really like two, saphir because its kinda dead and too slow and les cours d'eau solo the original one is good but this one is just a bad version of it, i dont like the guitar thing in the background but the rest of the tracklist is pretty good, 1996, anxiété and vide all mog most of the albums i listened to here (not bully or ballads 1 tho)

idk much to write here i liked it and that's it i could've written something better but i need to study rn rq

ACTUAL DAY 9: JAMES BLAKE BY JAMES BLAKE
i dont get it, like i feel like im suppose to understand something that i dont understand in this and i dont know what is it is
its alright i guess
i feel like it could've been done better but also i get the feeling this is like one of those albums that you grow on you

Unluck seemed good but i dont like the vocals, i feel like the instrumental could've gone to something better, idk its just weird but his voice is good and i liked it a bit on The Wilhelm Scream but the instrumental carries the song. i feel like the instrumentals mostly carry this album honestly, but i did like the idea on wilhelm scream where the whole track has the wilhelm scream in it as part of the background, i like these little experiments but sometimes its too much, like I Never Learnt To Share just sounds trash the vocals suuuuuuuuuuck, i wish it was just the instrumental

i didn't like both Lindisfarne I and II, the robot voice is weird but when he sings normally its gets better, To Care (Like You) and Limit To Your Love are some examples where i think he does it right, the instrumental is good and vocals too, Why Don't You Call Me was nice too but its whatever, I Mind was good too i liked it a lot, top 1 of the album.

the latter half of the album mogs the start, better than i thought, i remember hearing a bit of his album with lil yachty and liking it, also playing robots into heaven was good (i think idk i haven't heard the album)

i feel like this is like the pomme album (which is better btw) like it has good direction but some misplaced stuff

favorite tracks: i mind, the wilhelm scream, why dont you call me
score: 3/5 a three just for the instrumentals, it could be better if not for the weird vocals
i think im just too dumb to get some of it

DAY 10: ASTROWORLD BY TRAVIS SCOTT
one two three four five
i was gonna listen to "geek the girl" by some nophono named lisa germano because i found her album on aoty
who cares about her i'll listen to it tomorrow

amazing album i love it, i've never been that big into psychedelic stuff but idk if this is really psychedelic but i never listened to it after licking a frog and getting high so i guess i wouldn't know, the production is very good, STARGAZING and R.I.P. SCREW are a very good example of what i liked on the production, it has like these little details that add up into something very good. also i liked tame impala's prod on ASTROTHUNDER, i think it did need like a verse from travis but its still very nice, there's some underrated gems here that i never really caught on my first listen, like WHO? WHAT!, COFFEE BEAN, NC-17 and WAKE UP, wake up has a very good weeknd feature also who what just has two very good guest verses too

i wouldn't skip any song off it honestly, this is kinda like one of these albums where i randomly feel like listening to it, SICKO MODE is kinda whatever but its good, although i do think CAROUSEL and STOP TRYING TO BE GOD are kinda forgettable and could be better but my point still stands. i liked the fast pace of HOUSTONFORNICATION and generally the whole pace of the album, it was somewhat hard to pick a top 3 but i absolutely loved don toliver's feature on CAN'T SAY so i gotta got with that leading it

like this album is so good i cant bru 💔💔 not the best travis scott project since rodeo mogs, but i think its better than utopia and birds in the trap, days before also is better tbh but i just like that album because it was the first travis album i listened to

most of the lyrics are like nonsense but who tf listens to rap because of the lyrics? the ones with political messaging and shieeeeet are all trash redditslop and shitty lyrics >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> snca social messaging

i just like it and wanted to glaze idk

DAY 11: GEEK THE GIRL BY LISA GERMANO
its something i guess idk what i was really expecting, like this is the type of album music reviewers like, idk it just doesnt hit for me, like it has these weird themes that are probably meant to be deep but i just think its performative (yeah cause its music)

i just think its not the type of stuff i can enjoy or something, like there's some good songs like Just Girl but the rest is just nothing i care for, i think A Psychopath had a cool direction but i wouldn't go back to it, im not saying this is like unlistenable garbage, just that its not for me, i won't give it like a 4 or anything but i won't give it a 0 too, like it HAS good songs, Sexy Little Girl Princess has a good sound, most of the tracks not focused on her singing and the lyrics are good but its not like the focus of the album

i would've liked it better if it had like these weird instrumentations that it had on the start of My Secret Reason or Phantom Love, this album kinda reminds of the aeroplane over the sea but that album is alright, not that this one isn't but aeroplane is better, i dont really like either tho

i did like [Late Night] Dresses tho, like i said, the album isn't bad, its just not for me or maybe im just a obsessed kike

favorite tracks: just girl, sexy little girl princess, phantom love
score: 2.5/5
its not trash or anything

alright, from now on i wont keep skipping days
also another joji
>skipped nectar award

DAY 12: SMITHEREENS BY JOJI
i thought this was pretty short for an album, more like an ep but alright, i was gonna listen to nectar instead since that's his best album (probably) but i liked the name of this album more, Glimpse of Us was okay, i dont usually like those types of songs but the piano was cool, i think it did ease more of the complaints i had on ballads 1, it doesn't really feel cringy like some songs on that project felt, i still do like ballads 1 better, the songs there are more memorable than the ones in here, not to say i didn't like them tho

like i enjoyed most of this album, Feeling Like The End was good, reminded me of can't get over you off ballads, Die For You was good too, like that instrumental is amazing, the lyrics do feel too emo-ey but to an lesser extent than most on ballads, like i can listen to it just fine instead of something like no fun and rip off ballads, i'll say the instrumental carries it tho. Before The Day Is Over feels unfinished tho idk what is it, it just feels empty, by the end it gets better but that's like 20 seconds, Dissolve also has that way too melancholic vibe, the guitar doesn't really help it

NIGHT RIDER was good tho, by track 6 it gets better, like the album could be more but at this state its still something great, BLAHBLAHBLAH DEMO is snca tho not really anything i have to say about it, i did like the interlude tho, its catchy, yukon is top 2 off this project, overall great song idk much to say, 1AM FREESTYLE is also very good.
what i get from this album is what i said, it COULD be more, it could've been better but at the state it is in it's good, not better than ballads but not something like a falloff

favorite tracks: 1am freestyle, yukon interlude, night rider

DAY 13: AN EVENING WITH SILK SONIC BY SILK SONIC
probably the most normie corporate music ever
i've never really been into jazz or funk or whatever its called (i do like jamiroquai tho) but this is alright, nothing i would be a big fan of but nothing i would hate, like the lisa germano album its not for me but this one i can enjoy it better, like i liked Fly As Me and Smokin Out The Window, i liked the more dancey (is that even a word) songs, the more energetic ones i mean (im rereading this one and i meant not like energetic i meant like less-calm ones but not like fast or anything idk how to put it in words)

their voices are good, i liked the singing on 777, also the instrumental on that song is amazing i like that it like uses bongos or whatever that shit is called, its a good album, i do think some of these songs are eh, like i personally don't care for them, examples being Put On A Smile, After Last Night and Leave The Door Open, like i said i dont care much for the more slow tracks, most of them are good like Love's Train but again, i dont care for them, but i actually liked love's train a lot it has a very nice vibe

i dont hate the album as i said, the songs by the end are very good (love's train and Blast Off) but if they balanced more the "fast-paced" songs with the slow ones it would be perfect but atp its still good, didn't enjoy it as much as bully or les failles cachées but still good

favorite tracks: fly as me, 777, blast off

i was gonna do this one yesterday but day 14 fits it better

DAY 14: BLACK FLAMINGO BY AFOURTEEN
get it? cuz fourteen
anyways, man its been a while since i heard something from spider gang, i remember in 2022 thinking lil darkie was cool lol, trap metal is such a dated genre and this album proves it, its pretty short, only 7 songs and not even 20 minutes long, most songs are one or two minutes long, the title track and opener is straight up noise pollution, like its experimental but it tries too hard, BROKEN BONES IN MY CHEST had a good idea but the execution is horrible, which is a shame because afourteen is actually one guy i thought had some potential off the spider gang era, but this is just one album so i guess he could've changed up his style

one song i really liked was LILY PAD, if every song was executed like this one it would've been a very fun album but instead most songs sound like HECATE, that beginning is so bad like holy shit but it does get better as the song progresses, not to say much since its still kinda bad as the vocals just sound misplaced. all the tracks are produced by some guy named skotskr and idk if that's afourteen's other name or something (probably not since he was featured on a song) but this guy does a horrible job producing most of it, sometimes he lands like the end of BLACK FLAMINGO and the whole production on lily pad but most of the time it justs sounds like too much

like some of these just have too much going on, SAFETY OFFICER RICHARDS suuuuuuuuuuuuuuucks and the lyrics (the ones i can understand) are so cringy, the instrumentals too are so bad like what even is going on in NOBODIES BEHIND YOU, i did like 20 MORE MINUTES TILL FALL a bit, it has one of the better productions on the album along with lily pad, it could've been way better but it insists upon itself, it tries too hard to be mysterious and edgy and scary and experimental and it ends up damaging the quality of it

favorite tracks: lily pad, 20 more minutes to fall
score: 1/5
it had potential, sad to see
>>22
After listening to bully more i made up my top 5 (also preacher man is a good song i began liking it)
1. All the love
2. Sisters and brothers

also about bully why can't this schizo nigga just update it and release the deluxe already like gamma said, even vultures 2 had a deluxe and tlop was worked on right after the listening parties, this nigga just teased a lauryn hill feature and a don toliver song just to not do shit and fuck up circles even more

with all that said this album is now a 4.5 in my eyes

DAY 15: A DAY WITHOUT RAIN BY ENYA
idk who enya is but yk what i liked the album a lot, its a sweet album, i like the "chanting" on some tracks like on Deora Ar Mo Chroí, idk what its called but i'll call it chanting, like she has a very pretty voice and it really shows in most of these songs, i didn't really know what genre this is but wikipedia said its "chamber pop" and rym said its "celtic new age" and ambient pop, also lol i didn't know she's the one who made that famous song, when i heard Only Time i immediately recognized it, that song is actually really good honestly, im pretty surprised since i thought i wouldn't like it right away

sometimes it has this vibe of mystery i think? idk how to describe it but Tempus Vernum sounds like it. my favorite was probably Wild Child but i also really liked The First of Autumn so its kinda tied for me, that piano is soooooo good, ones that didn't really hit for me were Pilgrim, the lyrics are nice but idk i just didn't really like, also Silver Inches, i thought that was pretty forgettable, Flora's Secret too, the instrumental is eh its whatever, besides that there's not really much that i have to complain. i wouldn't really listen to deora ar mo since im not that big into those types of songs but its still a very beautiful song, also the album in general flows well, there's a very good transition between tempus vernum and deora ar mo but the songs feel like they're structure together? idk how to say it properly but it feels similar but not the same, i'll just put it that since im too dumb to explain it

i liked most songs and it has a very unique sound (might be because i never heard something from this genre but still) so yeah, i liked it, the chorus (i think its the chorus but its like the da-da-da-da-da part of Lazy Days) of lazy days is amazing, i think its a very nice closer for the album, overall this is just a very good experience, would recommend a lot

i could write more but idk i dont have much to say anymore, i liked it, its good and unique and that's about it

favorite tracks: wild child, the first of autumn, lazy days
score: 4.5/5

DAY 16: ALL MY HEROES ARE CORNBALLS BY JPEGMAFIA
jpegmafia's music is something i have mixed feelings about but i mostly enjoy his work like, e.g. the rockwood escape plan, veteran and black ben carson (jej bbc) but im also not too familiar with his other albums tbh, his fanbase is sooooooo whiny since they're all from aoty and rym or from anthony fantano, i remember when kanye was working on vultures 1 and jpeg helped him produce it so jpeg's fans got so mad they deleted his subreddit lol

either i really like the stuff this nigga does or i hate it, no inbetween. fuckkkk the production is insane genuinely, already had me hooked on the first track, the production is great but his voice sometimes lacks, although the prod makes up for it a lot, Kenan Vs. Kel is a perfect example (not really perfect because i like his vocals there but still) like that is the kind of experimental rap i like, especially the end that's all industrial and shit, idk what's the sample of Beta Male Strategies but its sooooooooo good, also yeah the lyrics are shit but as i've said before, trash lyrics >> deep lyrics

amazing tracks nigga i caaaaaaaaaaanttttttttttttttttttt like the first six tracks are amazing, literally the best ones on the whole album, especially Grimy Waifu cuz i liked that a whole lotta (red) also Rap Grow Old & Die x No Child Left Behind, the vocals aren't that good but i like that it's more melodic compared to the rest, still not on my top 3 since kenan vs kel and beta male strategies mog tf out of it, it has more misses than the pomme album tho (most of the "interludes" are pretty bad, also PRONE!, DOTS FREESTYLE REMIX and BBW too) so i'll give it the exact same score, close to being perfect but still not perfect

favorite tracks: grimy waifu, kenan vs kel, beta male strategies
score: 4.66666666666666666/5
i think i'll listen to that pomme album again, maybe in the future i'll do a rereview or something

DAY 17: SUMMER SONGS OF 2000 BY WEEZER
this one has a bit of backstory, i have a friend who really likes weezer and sometimes sends videos of him playing songs by them, i told him once about how i liked radiohead (i only listened to in rainbows) and he said something about how i dont really like rock because i did tell him that a while ago and then recommended me a bunch of weezer songs, i listened to some of the blue album but never got around to listening to the rest, i did listen to like three songs off this album before and one off pinkerton, but yeah that's it

this is like a compilation of demos and not an actual album or somethingburger. its whatever, i didn't see anything special in it, there's some cool songs like Preacher's Son and O-Girl, Mad Kow, Dope Nose and The Sister Song were good too but generally i think the album is nothing big, maybe its because its demos or im just not too much of a rock fan but it didn't really hit for me, i'll also say i liked Hash Pipe too, most of the songs are okay, i would say misses were Superstar, Slob, My Brain Is Workin' Overtime and others but im not gonna list every song i think were misses cuz im lazy

i could say more but i dont really have anything else to say, its alright of a project but i liked probably half of it, which is like 6 or 7 (6767676767676767) songs

favorite tracks: o-girl, dope nose, the sister song
score: 3/5
i really like the cover too btw
I'll see if i can do one today but i'll probably be able to

Anyways drake is dropping an album tomorrow and idk if im gonna listen to it since from the leaks its literally just a generic drake album, and insider info says the album will have 20+ songs (bloateddddddd) and have shitty features

DAY 18: BONITO GENERATION BY KERO KERO BONITO
its something, i wouldn't listen to this often but i would listen to it like once in three to three weeks. i'll say that it has very good production but i think everything synthpop is good so im a biased faggot, i think if i was a woman i would like it better, maybe i should transition and take thrembos of hrt to enjoy it better, like its not the type of stuff i would tell people i listen to since its all girly and shit, again, the production is very good, Graduation (muh ye reference!!!!!!!!!!) is carried by it imo, the vocals do help it a lot tho

the japanese larp is kinda cool i guess (its not really larp since the girl is actually japanese but she's british also so its larp (idk if she was born in japan or the uk but whatever)) and i liked the japanese pop inspiration on Big City, the production is so gooooooooodddddddddddddd nigga if this album hadn't this whole aesthetic to it i would listen to it a lot more lowk, big city im gonna come back to a lot because that song is so nice its crazy. i would give this a 2.5 but its better than the others i gave that score so i'll give it a 3

honestly yeah i did say i wouldn't tell people i listen to this and i stand by it but i can't even lie some of those tracks are too good for me to ignore, Break for example is another one i'll def come back to (the "eh eh oh eh eh oh" part is sooooooooooo freshhhh) and Lipslap is alright, the prod is good but that's about it for me and the production is good in basically all the tracks, warmy and sweet album but not really for me i would say, other more snca tracks i didn't mention are Trampoline (very nice instrumental) plus Picture This (same as trampoline) and the lesser snca one since its in my top 3 its Hey Parents, i think its pretty sweet and a cool closer to it

mannnnn i love synthpop

short one

DAY 19: RAISE WA IDOL BY AYANO KANEKO
i was gonna do another one but i wanted to do a short album today, so i picked this random album from rym, since its somewhat similar to the kero kero bonito one (because everyone in japan is the same person or someburger) and because its just 8 tracks long, i also had wanted to do ye's self titled but i already listened to that album a gajillion times

its fun and sweet and i liked it, same as bonito generation, although this is pretty normal and i would recommend people (not that i wouldn't recommend people the kero kero bonito one but i said what i said on the review of it) but this one i would tell people i listen to it, as i said, its a fun album, its kinda of a sweet pop rock or something idkkkkkkkkkkkkkk. i've known about kaneko ayano due to her song romance sengen since its kinda popular and i'll listen to the one album that has that song in it soon (still need to listen to joji's nectar tho) but this album as a first actual experience of her music was good, i wouldn't say its perfect as that's too much glazing and i dont consider it in the same level as other albums i've reviewed such as les failles cachées, bully, all my heroes and a day without rain but its still very good

one track i didn't really like was Ice Candy, its too whatever, it fits the album well but i wouldn't listen to it outside of relistening to the whole album, i really liked the intro tho, youtube says its called Sakana and since the name is a billion japanese words i'll call it that, i like the album a lot and i'll say that Cowboy is another nice song along with Swimming. cowboy is good but there's better on the album, not to say it isn't great but still, Happyend Wo Kikaseteokureyo(Kari) also sounded weird af idk what's the point of it, pretty bad vocals imo but whatever, the rest makes up for it, and mentioning for the sake of mentioning it are Kazoku Ni Tsuite (its cool but i dont have much to say about it), Image No Uta (ehhhhhhhhh its alright) and Yubune (top 2 of the album btw)
that's it, short review ig but cool album

first rereview
also funny how i did like three japanese related stuff in a row

DAY 20: SWIMMING BY SWUM
apparently the version i originally heard was a demo and didn't have the full tracklist, which is 13 songs plus an extra, also swum is actually kinda famous i called him a literal who but he produced on a joji's debut ep. i still didn't come back to it that much besides today and yeah i had lowered the score of it from a 3 to a 2.5 but its not really deserving of that "low score" (not really low since its out five but still) but i gave the kero kero bonito album a 3 just off production and most of the same i had complaints about this album were present there and sometimes even bigger

i dont really have much to say about the songs anyway, like yeah i still prefer the jazz attempts over the lofi rap shit but its not like im listening to a different album since this one just added songs and not changed the production of the other songs, a title of song changed doe, garden rose is now called Garden of Rose and that track was my top 1 but now not so much, its good but i prefer Finland, i still dont like Trees. nor Swervin'. the new songs are cool, i especially liked Fishin' since idk i always liked those songs that sound like those little music boxes for children idk how to describe it

Into The Forest also has a nice sample, idk what it is but its a japanese woman singing and its incorporated into the song very well and Temple is also nice, its kinda like fishin without the music box thing but i still like it, i just didn't like the extra since it does the lofi rap thing that suuuuuuuuckkkkkkkkkkssssssssss but whatever. i acknowledge i should've been more open-minded regarding this album

favorite tracks: finland, fishin, into the forest
score: 3.5/5

randomly remembered this album, i posted about it on the sharty's /mtv/ once

DAY 21: EVERYTHING GOES NUMB BY STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO
cool title, a shartycuck said that this band was a gem once and yeah he was right, kinda surprised because i remember that when i listened to it at first i found the second track so bad i just quit the whole album but now im liking most of the album, actually surreal because it feels like im hearing to a completely different thing and maybe i am since the sound of this is so unique, i really like the use of trumpets, the chanting and strings they do in songs like Everything Went Numb, If and When We Rise Again, Point / Counterpoint, A Moment of Silence (A Moment of Violence is very good too) and That'll Be The Day, actually perfect use of the instrumentation, the vocals are eh but they work sooo well with the instrumentation that they bounce off eachother

i never heard any ska shit but damn this is good, very few moments i dislike off it, close to none, the start of point counterpoint is pretty bad but the rest makes up for it amazingly, We Are the Few is probably one of the best songs i've heard ever since making these reviews, the slow part and then the fast-paced parts are so good nigga what the fucuuucucuckckckccuck. this is actually skipless to me, same level as going up, not better since that album is STILL the best one i've reviewed but its close, i will def come back to multiple tracks off this. the weakest track imo is Failing, Flailing since it doesn't compare to any other track in anything, it gets bodied by Here's to Life and we are the few, much better songs but that one is still alright, just weak.

never been into the gothic or emo and overall sad aesthetic (that is literally one of my biggest points against ballads 1) but i can definitely look past it for this one as it doesn't force itself to be overly sad and depressive xxx emo bart vibes or someburgerinos the lyrics are snca since i dont listen to music for it but from i see its just about killing people, being sad, commie nigger revolution, being a drug addict and just being a fuckin bum, which is very awesome. actually amazing album, nothing else to say besides that, very enjoyable experience and definitely recommend a whole lotttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt

favorite tracks: if and when we rise again, a moment of silence, here's to life
score: 5/5

another random album i remembered

DAY 22: JARVAGE VOL 1 BY JARV
i remember hearing stuff from this guy all the time in like 2022 maybe? it was around the same time i liked lil darkie and didn't know much about music but eventually i just grew out of it (not that im old to begin with) and coming back to it its not what i expected, yeah its a bit corny sometimes imo but its nothing trashy, there's some good songs but this is like rap for people who don't actually listen to rap but ultimately it doesn't sound bad, just not something i would choose to listen to, kind of like lisa germano's geek the girl but in another extent

there's good perfomances like BLAOW, it has a nice "japanese-like" (nigga why does everything i review lately have something japanese in it) beat idk and he raps well in it, from blaow to Escargot its a nice run, escargot was the first song i ever heard by this guy, idek how i find it but i did, it was probably on soundcloud when i still used it. Today's My Day is a cool concept and i like the sampling, Bounce was also a good song, its a fun song, overall i think this project has some memorable stuff like today's my day but its not something too big, i personally wouldn't go back to it besides for when i remember about it, ofc i dont expect this random to do something like good kid maad city or my beautiful dark twisted fantasy but yeah it could've been something else

it doesn't take itself too seriously which i appreciate but that does ruins some songs like Kentucky Waterfalls, its alright for what it is but ehhhhhhh his vocals could be better also the features too could've been better, also same with Andrew Jack$on, it does land on some tracks like Happy Party but most of the time it doesn't. imo there's more misses than wins, i didn't like Why or Rows or most of the songs here, again, not saying its trash, just not what i would choose to listen to

or maybe im a whiny bitch

favorite tracks: escargot, today's my day, happy party
score: 2/5

DAY 23: AT LEAST SHE'S BEAUTIFUL BY RJTHEWEIRDO
idk how i even find this, im guessing its related to something about bully because of the album cover but that's just a guess, most songs don't even have 2k views on youtube but somehow this nigga has a ty$ feature?? like what nigga just works with everyone, i think i found it through rym (or aoty) but i can't remember it

i like the aesthetic of it, i had thought this was a rap album since the guy's black but apparently not, i also thought (because of the cover) that it was some weird horrorcore memphis rap like album and was a bit surprised when its a r&b one instead, im not that big into it but i gave everything goes numb a 5 when i don't even like punk shit that much. the songs sound good tho, like most songs with visualizers/music videos are pretty good, I'll Take Care Of You is a miss imo but Catchabody and Gray Area fucking won, the title track is also very good and overall i think the album has more hits than misses, i really like the drum use on it, its reminds me of nostalgia ultra era frank ocean if he wasn't a faggot

the themes are whatever for me since its just a normal-like love album and those are cool, i do like some of them like gemini rights or igor (most normie examples ever award) also i liked the beginning on Loud Silence, very very weird example but reminds me of on sight off yeezus but i didn't really like the songs with the guitar, like Pook! and there's another one but i forgot the name but whatever, what i have to say its that's its mostly good but i understand why it isn't kinda popular since there's people doing it better, not to discredit the guy but already doing it anyway so

favorite tracks: at least she's beautiful, catchabody, gray area
score: 4/5

hi this dropped today

DAY 24: EXPERIMENTAL RAP BY JPEGMAFIA
i think i said in the last jpegmafia review that i didn't like his new stuff (i just read it again and just said i was unfamiliar but yeah i mostly dont like it), mostly stuff like i lay down my life for you or scaring the hoes because danny brown is the most shitty music artist to have ever touched a microphone but jpeg is cool although all my heroes are cornballs is probably just a 4.5 honestly, but now on this album

i liked the intro a lot, it was the first single to the project and i had liked it generally, i do think the album is a bit too long but most of his albums are like that, one thing i never liked about his music is that sometimes he's just offbeat and forcing too much on the experimental stuff, there's some of that here like on ¥ (Yen) and War Over Land. this album is very influenced by kanye since there's a yen title track and a dollar title track, which is def a reference to the vultures series but also there's literally a song titled Since I Met Ye and another mention of him in Chat (also sampled on Lights)

one thing i also liked was that it mixes rock and rap but not like in those cringe rap rock songs by people like eminem. it is pretty experimental i'll say that, some are too experimental i would say, like $ (Money) that "money money money money" that keeps repeating suckkkkks imo also Pop this Heat had a cool beat but he just raps too fast for the beat and it doesn't fit on it, if he approached it more like war over land then it would be better, also the feature on Meet the Dealers suck, its generally just a bad track honestly, i do think he did it better on head tho

some songs just sound like dubstep and other like industrial or rock and that's kinda cool, i like the concept of changing up the sound through the album but dubstep is not for me and i think its more prominent in the album like in Degenerates Prayer for example or more drum-oriented sometimes like in GYBB and Mask On, i could've said more definitely but its good, just whatever sometimes but mostly good

favorite tracks: babygirl, gybb, no strippers in heaven

DAY 25: BEATOPIA BY BEABADOOBEE
i haven't been doing the ones on my list as of recently for some reason but i still have time until the year ends so who caress, i found out about this album because i was listening to that one kero kero bonito song i liked and the song the perfect pair came on so i decided to look up the album and listen to it, im not really into the whole quirky stuff that these types of artists do like making the titles not stylized properly and etc also alt rock is kinda gay and not for me but dream pop is cool ig

it does sound good, the intro i dont care for but 10:36 is kinda good, but again, i wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it, like Sunny day sounds good but its just pop shit that i dont really like, its like tiktok music, i am a bit of a hypocrite because i like joji's stuff but this is the type of shit that white girls and trannies and anthony fantano listen to. also people on the comment section keep saying she's underrated and say they're gatekeeping when most of the songs on the album have more than one million views

ik i should be open minded but like ehhhhhhhhhhh, i dont like most of it that much, See you Soon was good and broken cd has cool instrumentation (also tinkerbell is overrated too it has good prod) but i think i generally dont like her voice that much, it doesn't fit into the rock stuff she does that much and the other soft singing stuff i just find bad, the perfect pair is pretty cool tho but the rest like Lovesong or Ripples i didn't like. sometimes it does land like in fairy land and Don't get the deal but its whatever, not much more to say again, not for me

DAY 26: ROME BY DANGER MOUSE AND DANIELE LUPPI
i realized i hadn't done reviews on many collab albums so i just went in and asked gemini to recommend me one because i was too lazy to find one myself, and it gave me "ghosts" by danger mouse and daniele luppi, which isn't an actual album but is a song BUUUUTTTTTTT the two have an album together, which is this one. i think the ai just confused the song for an album because its dumb but who cares, i thought it would be something like electronic and shit but its probably the opposite of it, which was pretty surprising

anyways i'll just say its ehhhhhhh, it has a warm and chill sound but its like, idk cowboy music, Two Against One, Theme of "Rome" and The Rose with the Broken Neck just sound generic honestly, like some random soundtrack for a movie or like a country song instrumental. Season's Trees is kinda cool i guess, the vocals from norah jones are good, i also liked her singing on Black, i didn't really like the only-instrumental songs, not that i dislike things that dont have vocals, i'd say i prefer much more the instrumental than the vocals (which ig is the most normal shit ever) but they just feel empty alone, like Roman Blue, it does have the singing at the end but that's 20 seconds and not enough to make me revisit it

danger mouse's prod is kinda cool overall but i dont like it just, The Gambling Priest has a good sound too but i'd js say the entire album is pretty whatever, not something i would go back and listen to but not something entirely made of bad songs, also Morning Fog is very good, i would def listen to that one again because i just really like the little children's music box sound, Problem Queen could've been better tho, i guess i liked the album a bit but i feel way more neutral towards it.
that's it i guess

DAY 27: GOLF COURSE INTERCOUSE BY CHEERLEADER ROADKILL
random recommendation that i never heard of, i think this is a mostly unknown album since i can't really find that much info outside of genius and rym, also i thought this was like from some obscure punk band from the 2000s but it released in 2024, so i guess its a obscure band from the 2020s. i've said before im not familiar with punk but the last punk album i've heard got a 5/5 so maybe i'll like it a lot lol also its a pretty short album since songs average about a minute and a half. Born Lucky as an intro was cool, Upside Down was snca but Sewed Shut was really cool, i really like the vocals, it has a weird charm for me

the energy is pretty cool, i really like the guitar on Summer Camp Slut too, i think the one on Hostage mogs it but its still very gooodddddd but i didn't like the one on Rot Away, i think its kinda of a cool idea since (i think) the "i dont wanna rot away with you" also sounds like "i dont wanna run away with you" which is cool, reminds of the chorus of hell of a life on my beautiful dark twisted fantasy, also Cigarettes sounds very weird, its way too much and i didn't like it, prettyy bad and the vocals dont help either, i found Roll of Film a bit weird too but i could look past it, although i think both of these will grow on me when i hear it again since i hateeeed everything goes numb at first

the other tracks i should probably mention are Sick of Playing, it has a funny chorus jij and its pretty good, Monday was one i didn't like since acustic is a bit ehhhh, it justs sounds gay to me, the last one is When You Stare and i really like it as a closer for the album, its overall a good track but i think it fits really well as the end of it and just sums up the overall vibe of the album, its a fun album mostly :)))))))))))))))))

Also, on another note, fakemink released an album like last week i think? I was gonna listen to it today but its a sequel to his last ep that released this year and i never got around listening to it (its only 7 songs) so i'll listen to it today then i'll do some other albums that people have recommended me then listen to his new album
I think that's manageable

TERRRRRFFIIFIFIFIFIFIFIEEEEEDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!

DAY 28: THE BOY WHO SCREAMED TERRIFIED . BY FAKEMINK
idk much about fakemink, i didn't even know he was british and i've thought he was like ken carson or destroy lone, ken carson is kinda cool i guess, also for some reason the cover reminds me of summer pack by childish gambino, it feels more unique when compared to other rage or modern trap artists honestly, but im just talking out of my ass as im not into the underground scene, i did like Mr. Chow . even if the end feels a bit generic but overall the project is unique

most songs here are good, i wouldn't say its perfect since there's some things that could be improved, the autotune he uses could get old quick and sometimes it does sound a bit off like in The Mercer ., that track is pretty cool but its nothing notable imo, the album is generally good, fakemink has a good voice and he def has good production, tons of potential in this guy, i think he did experimental shit better than jpegmafia's experimental rap album, even if they're basically two distinct genres within the same genre

not many filler, only ones i'd consider skippable would be Dumb . and maybe Young Millionaire ., as i said in the kaneko ayano review its generally easier making skipless short albums since its very easy to just pick seven of your best work, there's isn't much for me to say tho, it was a bit of a surprising experience and im looking forward to listening to terrified, Blow The Speaker . was also good, could've been more but still good at the state it is, Milk & Honey . is def my favorite but fml . is veryy close

favorite tracks: milk and honey, fml, mr chow
score: 4/5

DAY 29: BUSINESS AS USUAL BY MEN AT WORK
i haven't listened to this but ofc i know the band, its impossible since they made the funny agartha song but i've known about them because neil cicierega sampled Who Can It Be Now? in mouth moods (i think ? i dont remember which exact album was it) but in regards to the album its good, i've noticed i mostly reviewed stuff from the 2000s (because we're done with the 90s crodie nine vicious won) so i guess i'll try to make it mixed up a bit, i wouldn't say this is like going up by the rah band but for some weird reason i think its similar, prob because im retarded

its just a fun little album, like it fills its purpose well, Underground and Down Under sum up it pretty well imo, ofc they aren't like the whole album but i think the general vibe of it is present in those two, i never really liked the whole funny vibe of these type of albums tho, like i never got into oingo boingo mostly because of it, idk why but i just dont like it, Helpless Automaton was the one i had a problem with but the rest are reallly good. i especially like People Just Love to Play with Words, i like the chorus, I Can See It in Your Eyes is good also and Catch a Star has a good title (its a bit of a good sound but idk it could've been done better, too reggae i think, Down By the Sea did it better)

Be Good Johnny was badddd imo the chorus is so weird, the vocals on Touching the Untouchables are also a bit weird, generally weird track idk why its like that, ANYWAYS good album with some tracks i didn't like
im running out of stuff to say

favorite tracks: underground, i can see it in your eyes, people just love to play with words

I was thinking about mgmt, i really like them but i haven't seen most of their newer stuff, i still have to listen to loss of life but if i had to pick a favorite album of theirs it would probably be congratulations or the self titled

I really like song the whole vibe of congratulations, their self titled still takes the cake tho since it was probably one of my first proper album listens and so i js have some weird affection towards it

Anyways an album recommendation i have is mgmt by mgmt
That's it lol

I recently found out that everything goes numb is a bit of a """"sequel"""" to this album, here's to life was literally imported from here, which is cool, the version here is good but the official album one is ofc 100% better, its like a little ep with 5 songs, i listened to it and its good, sorta of acustic version of everything goes numb, which is kinda cool

DAY 30: ALVVAYS BY ALVVAYS
i've been meaning to listen to this again for a while now, i used to larp as alvvays fan on aoty in 2024 maybe but i forgot about their music bc im a retarded faggot nigger something something, when i still used the sharty i remember someone saying
>look at his album cover, no wonder alvvays is canadian
which i found funny and then i listened to some songs off this self titled like Adult Diversion, also the girls in the cover aren't indian lol, i've seen that they're iranian. but anyways this is prob one of my favorite albums ever and yeah i js wanted to glaze it, alvvays in general is a very good band, blue rev is mostly good and antisocialites is on a similar level to this album

i only wanted to listen to it again since when i was out today i listened to Archie, Marry Me and that was it, marry me archie is a very good song also probably top 5 off the album for me, i'd say the only tracks i never went back to are Red Planet and Underneath Us but they're still good, Atop a Cake was the first song i ever heard by alvvays so it'll always be my favorite, even if i don't think its really better than Next of Kin or Party Police

idk the exact genre that has this sound on this album bcuz there's like 5 or more but its like indie rock and uptempo, its very consistent also since most songs are pretty catchy, the melody is not really forgettable on most tracks and that's the same with the singing, just really good vocals on the entire album, good examples are The Agency Group or Ones Who Love You but my favorite instrumental on it is Dives like its so something, idk how to describe it

its just an overall great album for me i loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee it

favorite tracks: atop a cake, dives, next of kin
score: 5/5

DAY 31: PISS IN THE WIND BY JOJI
the deluxe released today i think idkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk anywayyyys i got a youtube recommendation of it and so i decided to listen to it, the song that appeared was Bluffin' that has a feature with some random nigga that i forgot the name but its a very good song, i should've listened to nectar first but nvm, i did listen to like 3 songs off it and they're mostly good so i'll probably like most of the project. also this is the longest one i've done yet since its 30 songs long, ik this is considered his worst album but i dont think it was that bad at all but yeah it is very bloated

most songs could've easily been cut from this album, no point in having a bunch of one minute songs when the longer ones are way better and some of these are just nothing special imo, like Love Me Better sounds like something from smithereens plus If It Only Gets Better, Forehead Touch the Ground, Fade to Black and etc are just straight-up filler, yes they sound good but taking them off wouldn't make a big difference also why make a deluxe when most songs are just as short and it has two songs that isn't even his like?????????? Back Home was ass and Beautiful was whatever, most songs are good but there's some bad stuff like PIXELATED KISSES (sounds like a bootleg rage beat that Sojourn did way better) and also fade to black, like nigga joji doesn't even appear in it basically, no idea why its even in the album

the middle of it is cool ig, it has good stuff like Past Won't Leave My Bed, DYKILY but also some very mid shit like CAN'T SEE SH*T IN THE CLUB (singing could've been better) and Rose Colored (yeat) also filler like Silhoutte Man, the beginning of the album is prob the best part bcus its has very high highs imo but still has the one minute songs that just make the whole album inconsistent, if he had just taken off most of the one minute tracks this would've been a way more enjoyable experience like nigggggggaaaaaaaa it has some peak shit like Horses to Water then it has that weird don toliver collab and FTC and Dior and skin cells and idk it has more but forget abt it

favorite tracks: dykily, sojourn, horses to water
score: 3.5/5
i dont think this is the same level as smithereens but i also dont think its better than ballads 1 so i'll js give the same score as ballads but ballads is still better

DAY 32: BULLY BY YE
i've basically given up on the updates of this album, i mean at least CIRCLES isn't there anymore but the only updates that bully was given was just nine vicious being listen as an official feature but tbh i like the album at this current state (copium but i've always liked it) so its fineeeeee, not really but its fine. this is definitely not something like my beautiful dark twisted fantasy, the college trilogy or 808s and heartbreak but i'll say its probably top 10 kanye, i'd place it above the ye self titled (it has ghost town tho) and the vultures sequel but its brutally mogged by the top 9 since kanye is pretty washed rn

onto the album, i like basically every track besides maybe DAMN and PREACHER MAN, i kinda began liking preacher man but it grew off on me, damn was better when kanye was a nazi since it had way better production and vocals than the current version. there's also the ai, which, i dont really mind as long as it sounds good but ofc human work will always be better, that was a big reason for why (most of) vultures 2 and donda 2 sucked, THIS ONE HERE is fully ai and its just pretty sad since it had a very good production by james blake but then it just turned into ai, i do still like it tho but its like circles, could've been way better although circles is a bad example since that songs suckkkkkkkkkkkkkks and this one here is kinda good

my favorite songs changed a lot of times because this album never really left my rotation and there was few tracks i didn't listen to, like stuff like MAMA'S FAVORITE (which is good i like the nine vicious feat) and WHITE LINES (also good i like the andre troutman feat) but damnnn there's some very underrated stuff on here, I CAN'T WAIT is so good its insane and a bunch of people shit on HIGHS AND LOWS because it doesn't have the original sample but its genuinely better, so overhated. there's others i could mention like KING, SISTERS AND BROTHERS, BULLY and WHATEVER WORKS but i'll go more """"indepth"""" on my favorites, which are currently ALL THE LOVE (THE GOAT ON THE ALBUM) and LAST BREATH (peso pluma won) and WHATEVER WORKS (very good college dropout throwback) (whatever works is not really on my top 3 but still)

i guess that's it ngl

favorite tracks: all the love, last breath, i can't wait

DAY 33: THE NEW ABNORMAL BY THE STROKES
another youtubian recommendation, i actually have a friend who really likes the strokes and he always told me to listen to their stuff but i never did geg, kinda odd that basically all of my friends really like rock except me but to each their own i guess. also i heard they made a new album, which i'll probably hear but maybe not ngl (actually they didn't drop it yet btw im js correcting my error right here), the only rock band i really like is radiohead so i just assume every other rock band is like them but idk this reminds of daft punk's music a lot, mainly Selfless but i like that the whole album has this mix of rock and synth shit (rym says one of the genres of this is synthpop + synthwave and i LOVE synthpop)

selfless is a pretty song too btw but there's better ones, like i just love the use of synths in it its so awesome, also i thought the strokes weren't that recent of a band but this album is from 2020, i am retarded so it makes sense that i didn't know it, i mean i guess they're old since they've been making music since 2001 but i thought they were older. also i did say that it reminds me of daft punk, the sound is somewhat similar but julian casablancas is in the strokes and lately i've been listening to "instant crush" by daft punk a lot and that song has him as a feature

not any complaints here honestly, ik i give many positive reviews but as i said before i just like stuff more than normal people (i think) and this is actually very nice, mainly what carries (not really carry but it helps a lot) it for me is DA SYYYYYYYNTHS but the vocals are good as well, highlight of them imo was the chorus of Bad Decisions but that entire song is well-sung, Eternal Summer was good too, Why Are Sundays So Depressing probably has my favorite instrumentation on the album but eternal summer has a insanely good part by the end. im probably tripping but i would say this is better than going up by the rah band, i'd say it has more personality also its just overall more enjoyable, not to take the quality away from that album as both are incredible but yeah this is my favorite one as of today

like the production is so amazing omggggggg eternal summer is soooo good also At The Door and The Adults Are Talking and EVERYTHING bruhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, i highly recommend checking it out, just overall very well made, it sounds really good and just has a pretty vibe.

favorite tracks: the adults are talking, eternal summer, why are sundays so depressing

DAY 34: BEATOPIA BY BEABADOOBEE
ok, i was seeing my other reviews yesterday and brooo this one was so short, and then i checked to see how many songs off this album were on my playlist and there's a good amount of them there, which is weird since i didn't really remember liking the album that much but i did give it a 3, also yeah i should've been way more open-minded and that's what i'll be for this one. also last review of this i said the song fairy song was named "fairy land" bbcuz im retardedddddd

i hadn't liked the overall sound of this but its grown on me quite a lot actually, second listens are always better than the first ones so its pretty much it i guess. her voice is good on the majority of the tracks plus i think the rock elements of it are done well, i did say it had good instrumentation and that's still true, like 10:36 and Sunny Day, i disliked sunny day originally for whatever reason but idk why i was so leaky when its a good song, better than some stuff i've reviewed here before. the whole thing of this is like 90s/2000s nostalgia, which i get it a bit now but idk i dont see it, i can kinda see it on See you Soon tho, that's probably one of the best examples of her voice going well with the instrumental like its js really good and nice

anyways onto the songs, i had said the intro was one i didn't care for but i was too harsh, Beatopia Cultsong is a good intro and a good song overall, there's some songs i still don't like, for example, Ripples is just too slow like do something nigga ts sucks, broken cd did it way better since its more energetic but not really too much since it also balances itself with her singing, also Talk, i need to be muh open-minded but nah this is just too gay for me, the other songs are nice though, You're here that's the thing is a very good one, very nice melody and vocals, i did like the instrumental on Lovesong a lot but to me it kinda carries the song, her singing is whatever but its still a good song, there's more i could mention but im lazzzzzzyyyyyy but Picture of Us is very good

that's it i could say more but i just wanted to give this album some flowers

DAY 36: YES DA DA DA BY WINDOWS96
i was looking thru rateyourmusic and i was js clicking shit and then i found the genre "utopian virtual", so i asked myself "what the fuck is utopian virtual?" and went to the top-ranked albums of the genre, this is on the sixth place and i dont wanna be a faggot that picks the first place so yeah sixth place it is. i just assumed its like lo-fi stuff because i didn't see the page for it but its vaporwave and "chillsynth" or whatever the fuck that means, its also quite recent, being only from two years ago and pretty unknown since i never heard of this in my life, 2024 had better stuff anyways like imaginal disk and both vultures' albums (vultures 2 was aoty btw)

it is pretty smooth and it doesn't really feel the same, like idk i expected it to get boring quickly but its a pretty nice album, i wouldn't say its life changing music altering stuff that i'll listen to for the rest of my life but its nice. i guess that rym really was right in that this sounds really virtual, its kinda nostalgiasloppy (what a fag word) but its pretty unique, i've never really seen something like Victim Less before but that's probably because im not into vaporwave, also its kinda relaxing and idk what the samples are but they're very good too. the guy's vocals are nice too, they go well with the instrumental but the instrumental is mostly better, not to take away from the vocals but ofc the focus are the instrumentals, my favorites were Apartments and Through The Sky, like the guy is very talented for this stuff

its def not perfect tho like there's some forgettable stuff, Sleep Chamber and Irreal really kinda just passed by but that's most of the forgettable songs, It's changed is also baaaaaaaddd lowk like why is this guy trying to make rock into vaporwave ts doesn't work bro also idek what the features does like the vocals don't sound any different from the other tracks and its mostly just a guitar that doesn't fit in at all, Cry Again also sounds very weird, the comments are a bunch of latinx pipo talking about "cumbia" so i guess that's why it sounds weird, i think the quality falls off a little post-Dead and Alive but its still very good, like there's some bumps like cry again and it's changed but the rest of the tracks make up for it. Underwater We're Okay is very nice and Two Eyes especially has nicely done vocals

its good with some skips, not a perfect album but kinda close

actual ACTUAL day 36

DAY 36: OVERGROWN BY JAMES BLAKE
omg its the war guy again, anyways ehhhhhh i was gonna do another one but i remember his self-titled album, which i gave like a 3.5 i think? (nvm i just checked and it was 3) it was okay i guess but my biggest criticism was mostly the vocals sounding off but yk mostly the production carried it heavily. james blake is a talented guy but he's just weird, like he has weird choices sometimes, i think he makes a very cool concept like in his albums being sort of a mix of ambient and r&b but i still haven't been able to figure out what i exactly don't like about him, "oh but you just said the vocals are your biggest shit against him" yeah but its not like he has a bad voice, his voice is nice and his production is also very nice but i just dont understand wtf his deal is, he can make songs that hit well like, in this album, Life Round Here, the instrumental flows nicely with the vocals but most of the time they sound off, i still really enjoy his production, its definitely the best thing about his work, he's apparently "post-dubstep" and it does show a lot, i never like dubstep but he can make it work

i still think it has mostly misses, like bro what's even going on at Take A Fall For Me, the rapping by rza is kinda cool but like it has some unnecessary stuff like james' "adlibs" or the chanting in it randomly, it could work but it doesn't hit for me, maybe i am STILL too dumb to get it. some stuff really just sounds bad for me like Retrograde doesn't hit at all and the singing on DLM could've been nicer if the piano was more present, there's still good stuff like i said, its not a bad album by any means, i enjoyed stuff like Digital Lion and life round here, his vocals can be paired very well with his production but they just dont fit on most of the tracks, Voyeur (lol cuck) also has very very good production, i like the futuristic sound of the album, it shows on a lot of tracks but again, most dont hit for me. i wish he would've incorporated the futuristic production and dubstep stuff on tracks like To The Last or Our Love Comes Back, like some of those songs sound "glitchy" in a very good way.

the conclusion i reached is that i still need to form a strong opinion on this guy

DAY 37: MAN ON THE MOON: THE END OF DAY BY KID CUDI
i was never familiar with kid cudi's solo works but i just had the idea that i wouldn't like it, since he has some misses in his catalog (speedin bullet 2 heaven) but he has very good ones too, like a kid named cudi or kids see ghosts, ooooooooooooor this one, its definitely a very innovative album that influenced a lot of stuff in rap, kid cudi has a good voice, i've always liked his voice and his collabs with ye, like in gorgeous off mbdtf and literally every song on kids see ghosts, he also has good songs with travis scott and that one ty dolla sign song. its not really the normal type of rap as he has better singing voice than a rapping voice, as i said, its a influential album, it definitely influenced the era of emo rap and stoner rap or even more melodic areas of rap, ANYWAYS what i wanna say is that its a classic album.

it has a nice flow of songs, most thing here fit the album well but there's some very out of place songs, looking at In My Dreams (Cudder Anthem) and Soundtrack 2 My Life since its basically the perfect example of a good sequencing, it introduces the album nicely and most of the tone of those two are present in the other tracks, also, i could see why some lyrics can be kinda cringy but i guess they're what he was going through at the time and that was just depression and drugs, truly the dream life. its not perfect, i do think his voice lacks on some tracks like Solo Dolo (Nightmare) since the singing is just off, doesn't fit the very good instrumental at all, Simple As... is kinda good but its forgettable, the album takes a more positive turn at Heart Of A Lion (Kid Cudi Theme Music), its a nice mix of his rapping and singing but that's actually most of the album lol, i think it also should've had more features but the ones present are fine, i really like mgmt on Pursuit Of Happiness (Nightmare) and i really like mgmt in general, Make Her Say was amazing also, i expected something more like 808s & heartbreak since its a cudi song with kanye and common but it was a nice surprise and more similar to something from the college dropout, it is very out of place on the album tho

the production is goooooooodddd, it has a cool vibe that reflects the psychedelic or "ethereal" vibe of the album, My World, Man On The Moon and Day 'N' Nite (Nightmare) are just straight up perfect for this album, i wish there was a extended version of the outro on day n nite but its still perfect, i remember hearing day n nite on soundcloud like 3 years ago and not knowing it was a big famous song. his singing and humming is extremely good like nigggggggaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa look at Sky Might Fall its so good it really reminds me of 808s & heartbreak, Up Up & Away is also a good upbeat song on it, its upbeat but it fits the album unlike make her say. the space aesthetic of it is kinda cool i guess but Enter Galactic (Love Connection Part I) is pretty much the only one related to space (there's man on the moon too but its not REALLY about it) and its whatever, kid cudi doesn't really fit on a dance song

my only complaint is that some stuff doesn't fit and some other stuff doesn't sound good, the rock influence is kinda notable since kid cudi literally did two rock albums but its noticeable in Alive (Nightmare) and yk in the mgmt feature. Cudi Zone and T.G.I.F. are good too but again, i dont think they fit that much, cudi zone fits a bit but tgif could've been used on another album that was more rap-focused, but again, cudi isn't really focused on rapping, Hyyerr is also more into rap but its like stoner shit so it fits, the production is very good as it is in most of the album. good album with very few errors

short but not really that short one

DAY 38: DANCE OF DECEMBER SOULS BY KATATONIA
metal is kind of like the only genre i've never liked or listened much and so i decided i should listen to it more, idk what is it but like its just the voices that most metal singers do are just weird and sometimes the guitars and stuff but whateverrr, in my list of albums to hear i only have two metal albums, which is that famous burzum one and this one, i don't really remember where i found this but when i was looking through metal albums i remember finding the covers so weird but its fair considering it was cool at that time (80s and 90s and stuff) and i guess its kinda cool if you look at in a certain light but its still kinda weird to me, also why are these guys in the cover looking at me like that what i did do

but more about the music, its only 8 tracks long but the songs are long since the intro (not counting the 30 second one) is 8 minutes long and there's two songs with 13 minutes for whatever reason, i didn't think the intro stretched itself, the vocals of the guy are so weird tho it doesn't even sound like he's saying anything, more like he's making noises, its kinda off-putting to me since it just sounds bad honestly but the majority of the song is focused on the guitar, which is cool and throughout the album it continues to be cool. In Silence Enshrined is kinda good, i liked the guitar but again i think the vocalist does a bad job at his performance, not really much to say about it tbh, i do like the change it has at 4:00 bc it adds more instruments and the vocalist just stops yapping about whatever he was talking about, it eventually just resets back to the normal tone of the track but it was a nice surprise. Without God is not for me tho like i can appreciate the guitar but like why is there a dog growling at the beginning and then the guy does a weird sound at the middle and by the ending of it, its kinda similar to in silence as it has a similar switch-up but i think that one does a better job at it, like the vocalist's voice is so weirddddddd. Elohim Meth was whatever too its pretty forgettable

i can acknowledge that its not the type of shit i would like and that its pretty well made, even if i dislike the vocals it does add to the atmosphere of the album and it is normal of metal stuff to have these weird voices and screaming (i think idk) so its not really something that i'd call trash or even bad, it has an appeal to some people but im not those people and some other albums i've done and gave like a 2 could fall into this category but idk this is a different case since most of those i found mediocre when this one isn't really mediocre, its an okay album with a lot of weird stuff in it to me. i sort of liked the two big tracks but like there's no need to add two 13 minutes songs back to back, at least add something in between even if they're still good. so yeah the conclusion i got its that its not really something i would listen to but its not bad, its pretty good in some aspects but its not for me.

DAY 39: SEX & FOOD BY UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA
another album i found off youtube, man i really need to do the ones on my list lol but also idk why i delayed hearing this one for so long, i found it on youtube then decided to listen to it then i just dont remember finishing it, i did like it tho and its not like i heard the whole album, more like four songs, Hunnybee got on my recommended and i listened to it, liked it and then decided to listen to the whole album, i originally thought i had never heard of something called "slacker rock" but that one famous car seat headrest album is of that genre so i did hear of it. i like psychedelic stuff but tbh i like anything so whatever, it also has some funk elements which i found cool but i liked the more pop-like tracks, for example: hunnybee, Ministry of Alienation (even if the lyrics are kinda cringe) and If You're Going to Break Yourself, rock elements were pretty cool too but not really for me, its like one song focused on rock and that song is easily a skip for me, it just sounds really repetitive and the instruments sound weird

on instruments, the people working on it do make a very good use of them in most tracks, i find it cool that it has a range of styles in it, like from a more calming folk song to garage rock, the more calming songs are better tho i really liked The Internet of Love (That Way) and its probably the track with the best instrumentation on the whole project, the riff is very nice and its a good mix of funk and neo-psychedelia, just a pretty calming song. Everyone Acts Crazy Nowadays also has amazing instrumentation, the little instruments that come in throughout the song add a lot to it, the chorus is nice too and the vocalist does a good job, which he does in like 90% of the album lol. its honestly a pretty normie album and like those really deep albums about addiction and love and stuff but i don't really care about it, it reminds me of currents by tame impala and that album is basically the same deal, way better than this one though, not to take credit away from this one as its not bad by any means.

uhhhhhhhh anyway in conclusion, good album with some little stuff i didn't like, i said i liked the variation of sound through it and i do but folk isn't done well by these guys, their sound is just off without the whole psychedelic and jazz and etc, Not in Love We're Just High was like that too but it did have a glowup by the ending so its not that much of a problem for me, still wouldn't listen to it tho. to wrap it up, most of the album is good but there's some things that would be better if changed or just removed altogether, still a good listen tho

DAY 40: FRAIL HANDS BY FRAIL HANDS
i wanted to do a short one and this is like 20 minutes with one minute songs so i picked it, its also in the genre of "screamo" and i never heard of it, i knew i wouldn't really like it but who knows maybe its a masterpiece but it really isn't lol, there's nothing much to say besides that its some girl screaming with people playing the guitar and drums, which is somewhat good but like the screaming ruins it, i know the genre is called screamo but come on lol. it really is like a mess and i think it can be good but this is just bad, who in their sane mind wants to hear someone screaming over a guitar? if i didn't like the katatonia album then this one is just another world entirely for me

like some songs sound the same and they mostly are, there's nothing really notable about them since its basically like the same structure (prob not the right word but still) with the instrumentation and the screaming and etc. i think it does have some cool instrumentals like in Dissolution and Snow in June, Grasp Unyielding also has a good one but it really isn't something i would listen to, not an album i'll come back to anytime soon and kek maybe im stupid for listening to something that i knew i wouldn't like but whatever. it is a better experience than some albums i did tho, like adl by yeat or black flamingo by afourteen, its something new to me so its not really a bad experience but still, nothing much i found valuable in the music but who knows maybe one day i'll listen to this band again and find it to be the best thing ever, but currently i just dont like it, i will say that Kernel Panic was a good song tho, i can kinda find the screaming tolerable there

again, maybe i'll warm up to it but idk probably not soon, in ten days i can listen to it again or another album or ep by frail hands. this one was too short for my liking imo but not really much to say on my part, short album with cool instrumentals but bad vocals and that's pretty much it

DAY 41: NO ANGEL BY DIDO
i've actually listened to some of dido's songs, it was that one with citizen cope that i forgot the name rn but that doesn't really matter also the one that eminem sampled (wow i wonder what album that song is in) but everyone has heard that song. i was a bit surprised to see that one of the genres is "trip-hop" but it was a cool surprise and i liked the use of drums through the album, especially on Hunter that song was very good, the intro is very good too and dido's voice is definitely one of the stronger points of the project. the guitar (sounds like it but idk) on hunter is also very good, my favorite instrumental is probably Don't Think Of Me tho it has those weird sounds that idk what they are mixed with a guitar, Honestly Ok is a close one tho. i kinda like the vibe of it with it as downtempo is an interesting genre, reminds me of the last album by the fishmans, which is fair since they share some genres

i do like the variety of instruments used in it, i saw a review on rym say that the songs sound the same but they don't at all, i dont really see any errors on it tbh i wouldn't skip a single song in here if i were to listen to it again, like maybe Isobel is a skip but its still good, i js think its a bit too slow for my liking but still. very good album, def top 10 off the ones i've listened to while doing these reviews, i do think the first half of it is better than the latter half but like by the end it has stuff like I'm No Angel and Take My Hand which just ups the overall quality of the album for me. the vocals paired with the production do it for me, i really really like the "feel" of it, idk how to describe but its like very airy and calm and i looooveeeeeeee it

very good mix of trip-hop and downtempo, very smooth and diverse, maybe its not allat and im glazing too much but i really really liked it, like bro look at take my hand and isobel they sound so different but also similar. also there's a very nice emotional tone to it, i may haven't liked isobel that much but its a pretty emotional track, i didn't really mention Slide (omg vultures 2 reference) but its also good, i wouldn't say its top 3 but def top 5 for me. generally a good listening experience and i'll definitely check out dido more, thanks 24bff9 on the famous website thatsnuts.online

stupid but what the hell do i know

DAY 42: BULLY DELUXE BY YE
it finally released, i am a bit disappointed that only two new songs were added and those two were already heard but i think the new mixes make up for it, still underwhelming tho but i won't complain since im just glad he actually updated the album, i've been a fan of his since the vultures era and its very nice to see he could come back from the mess that was vultures 2 plus the whole donda 2 rerelease and his nazi crashout, also cool new cover since that one was getting old

very good new mixes, he actually did fix the album, most of it anyways since there's still ai in some songs, like the first verse of PREACHER MAN is still fully ai for zero reason since he recorded new vocals for basically every song, the second verse on LAST BREATH is also ai for no reason too, peso pluma literally has the same verse as ye so why even keep an ai verse there? there's some minor ai too but those aren't even bad since its mostly on samples like in HIGHS AND LOWS. like he made the album so much better now, should've been released like that but that's a whole new conversation, CIRCLES is somewhat ok now because it has the old sample but the vocals are still pretty bad, KING has way better drums, ALL THE LOVE, BULLY and WHITE LINES sound so much more alive now even if white lines does sound kinda empty to me. my favorite update is definitely FATHER tho the louder vocals fit it so wellllllll

only mid songs here imho are preacher man, circles and i guess THIS ONE HERE isn't that bad, its better but not really that good when compared to stuff like king or all the love. also cool feature from lauryn hill in I CAN'T WAIT, i did wish the old sample was kept and they just added a verse from her but its nice to see her as a feature, MAMA'S FAVORITE is also pretty underrated i really liked the nine vicious adlibs and he sounds very clear now. the two new songs, OK and MISSION CONTROL, are very good, mission control is a nice throwback to his christian era and ok is a good don toliver collab, idk why it has clicking noises on it tho. very nice surprise and it was worth the wait, its not like graduation but i find it better than some of his other projects, like jesus is king, the self titled, watch the throne (even if that album is very underrated) and vultures 1

DAY 43: NATURAL SOURCES BY RONALD SNIJDERS
i was searching for some kaneko ayano album to review and so i went and looked "kaneko" in rateyourmusic, so i found the genre "kaseko" which is a "Surinamese popular music with roots in Surinamese Creole music, which was influenced by folk traditions of Africa, Europe, and the Americas." and i thought "why not?" and just went to the highest rated albums and picked the shortest album because if it was shit i wouldn't wanna write about how i wasted my time listening to "surinamese popular music" for 50 minutes. when listening to these weird old albums with a weird genre i always think that "maybe its a masterpiece" and i wouldn't really call this a masterpiece but its pretty good, the intro was shit though like he's straight up raping the flute and that made me think that i was just about to listen to the worst music ever but then i got extremely surprised when Seven Wings came up, which is a very tropical song with incredible use of the flute and whatever other instrument is in it, i have to say that its very impressive that this singular guy plays every instrument in this album. also this guy is still alive and released an album last year, which is impressive since he has been making this flute music since 1977 with this debut album

extremely calming album, like its perfect for just listening on the background (lol like every single song) while doing something, it kinda reminds me of bossa nova and i guess that kaseko probably has the same vibe to it but instead of being south american its just african, funny how there's kind of a tie to these since there's a song named Brazilian Blue in here. some songs are just not it tho like the intro, Skin Source, when it sounds good it gets brought down by whatever weird stuff he's making with the flute, Exchanged as kind of the same problem but its just too empty like bro for the love of god use the flute properly with the drums, he's literally just doing shit. best one here is definitely seven wings but Busy Street is close, kinda fast-paced but not too much to disrupt the flow of the album and paired with the instrumentation its just a perfect track, also nice that its called busy street and its the only fast track on it, kinda like a busy street lol. i do wish it had longer songs tho like i feel that Galibi could've been longer and Dagoe Sji Jorka and Todo Bere shouldn't even be there, why put two less than a minute long songs in here when they're literally nothing

Roseille is good too, it also has a very pretty song like Temple Of Faith and brazilian blue is soooooo good and its so bossa nova sounding like niggggaaaaaaaaa, its all so smooth and hypnotic, incredible incredible album and insane for a debut, especially considering that this guy basically did it all by himself except the engineering, definitely a warm surprise and a very surprising album experience, would recommend

DAY 44: GOODBYE, WORLD! BY MIFFLE
i've never listened to "tape music" before and i haven't really been into ambient, like i've listened to some of aphex twin's stuff but never got deeper into it, however over the course of these 44 days i have listened to some lo-fi albums, i think most of joji is like lo-fi adjacent but imo doesn't really count and i guess the only lo-fi albums i've done were swimming by swum and yes da da da (its mostly vaporwave but its kinda similar)

i guess this album is more experimental since its kinda of a mix of folk and ambient, it also has this weird static-like feeling to it idk how to describe it really, its a cool aesthetic to it and like some songs kinda sound like from a television or something, cold concrete glows under the moonlight is the one who most sounds like it to me and generally i think its a good concept but this isn't really for me. its nothing bad its just that i dont really wanna spend time listening to melodic static noise, but the album kinda picks up after digital blizzard, very nice track and this album is pretty similar to the african album i did yesterday in the sense that its a nice thing to listen in the background. i appreciate the album but its really not something that i would listen to that often, i think in some aspects it tries too hard to be experimental, like nigga i don't wanna listen to some robotic noises from two minutes, the longer tracks are cool tho i wish most of the same had that format, static snow, digital blizzard and remnants of a dream mix the whole static thing with the instrumental nicely and i'll def revisit these ones, i also liked ghosts of your whispered words linger a lot too. like i said, the album isn't bad, its just that most of it isn't something that i would really revisit

it'll probably grow on me after a relisten, i've said this like 10 times before but second listens are always the better experience. nice concept but could've been executed better in some aspects since there's very good songs here, i guess you could view the smaller ones as interludes but my point still stands, the run from the invisible girl to goodbye, world! is very nice too, i liked the whole crazy industrial part on long walk home (you exist in my frozen memories forever) and i guess in retrospect i actually liked most songs on here

DAY 45: BEAT HAPPENING BY BEAT HAPPENING
was gonna do another one today and was gonna do it way earlier in the day but whatever, this was in my list for a while now and idk where i found it but i only added this because of the cover, its also pretty short since its barely 19 minutes long and the average song length is like 1:30 minutes but i'd say this is just a whatever project, like its nothing really special, its pretty sweet tho like its kinda childish but i think its pretty ehhh, it has a cool sound, like Bad Seeds (2) and I Spy are cool surf-rock i guess but i didn't really like the vocalist. also i'd say its a bit too quirky sometimes, some of the lyrics are just silly but i won't really complain about it since its kinda the whole aesthetic of the album but like there's literally no point in keeping a song like In Love with You Thing in the album, nothing listenable about it and the vocals on I Love You are sooooooooo shit. generally it has nice sounding instrumentation but what brings it down for me is the vocals, imo they ruin some songs like Run Down the Stairs (1) and its not that the voice of the vocalists (at least the female one) is bad, it really just doesn't fit on some tracks or are just straight misused

i like jangle/twee pop quite a bit (alvvays best band oat btw) but this type isn't really it lol, not meaning that it isn't the genre but i really dont see anything special in it besides it being a cute album, also like holy shit why are the songs with the male vocalist so shit oh my god why can't this guy sing normally like its all so off, genuinely for me the only kinda enjoyable performance from him is bad seeds but that isn't even that good imo, the instrumental carries it. i'd say overall its pretty mid, not anything i would come back to and i don't see me relistening to this anytime soon. probably will relisten to the band tho i guess they can change up their style. lowk i would've written more but not really much to say besides that, shitty vocal performances on many songs but i guess its not THAT bad

DAY 46: THE SECOND COMING BY HASSAN KHAFFAF
amen and hallelujah, anyways this has been on my list for a while too, i always meant to listen to it but never got around really doing it, when in a perfect world/cuckkk by ye was leaked i listened to it and then realized that a bunch of songs there were reused for this album since hassan did a bunch of reference tracks and then they had kanye ai vocals over them, also the first time i heard of the album was when GOD'S IN CONTROL released and i listened to it, i had liked it but as i said, never listened to it. also the first gospel album i reviewed i think, cool sample choices too btw (there's like that one tiktok song sample in HELLO SATAN) ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE has a very good production, the singing on ANGEL is pretty bad tho ngl, didn't really feel it but anything is possible had a very good flow. god's in control is also cool although i feel like he underused ye, like it feels more like a sample rather than a feature. i am also very salty that hassan didn't have a feature on bully since he would've fit so well on damn and he has some very good flows here, DEVIL'S PLAYGROUND is very fresh, WEDDING CAKE has such a nice production and its very nice to see since it was like one of the three listenable songs off the leaked cuckkk album but idk i don't really like hassan's verse that much, wouldn't stop listening to it tho its still a good song

aotyfags say its just kanye throwaways with hassan on it but honestly not really true since he and digital nas basically made cuckkk and in a perfect world, i guess its the same deal with utopia by travis scott since a bunch of people called it the same thing and a yeezus copy when travis literally helped work on yeezus and like one or two songs from utopia were originally kanye songs. anyways i think its mostly a good album, very nice to see and i really think this guy is going places if he keeps this up, i think its isn't really a original approach to gospel rap lyrically tho but production-wise i dont think there's anything close to it in the gospel genre but tbf gospel rap isn't THAT common. also damnnnnnnnnnnnn (did i ruin your plans) the samples arE SOOOOOOOO GOOOOODD, california dreamin' on LA DREAMS fits so well. dont wanna mention ye too much but its very clearly influenced by him, he quotes him on the closer and its basically about hassan's experiences with ye

i do have to say that the singing isn't very strong imo, LAUGH AT ME and WISH could've been nicer without the weird vocal effects on his voice, wish is kinda cool tho i liked his rapping, same in angel and LOVE too, love is kinda cool tho the sample carries it. i don't think its a perfect album but im very surprised by how much i liked it, the first half of it is so good even if there's some bumps on the road, latter songs do fall off a bit, not many rapping and they rely so much on sampling, e.g. HEAVEN has strong production but hassan is like barely there and then his voice is pitched down for no reason. i do like the little synths (i think) on BRING ME THIS LIGHT tho but honestly if he cut off like five songs from the album it would've been a way better experience, not to say i disliked listening to it but there are some songs that bring the quality down, no reason to have CHILD OF GOD in the tracklist but BIG BROTHERS was a pretty nice closer, kinda like the saint pablo of this album but ofc not to the same extent

cool little album tho i appreciate it a lot

go go go go go go go and on the count of three everybody run back to your fantasy

DAY 47: BLEEDS BY WEDNESDAY
i like the cover and that's basically the sole reason that i listened to it, as im back to being a aotyfag (never stopped being one tbh) i should listen to these little retarded faggot albums that are most likely very overrated, like basically any album with a must hear on that site. anyvvayyys this is kinda cool i guess, the vocalist has a good voice and i guess this counts as "country" but its not the usual country sound, i do see it on tracks like Townies and the outro tho, both are pretty awesome but idk townies is pretty whatever, i have this opinion on basically most of the album. like i should be way more open-minded but im too whiny to sit and listen to country sorry

jk tho i'll listen a lot to some songs off this album, Wound Up Here (By Holdin On) is especially nice like that guitar is so smooth, idk what's the exact vibe of this since bc of the cover i was expecting like some weird quirky pop-rock but the actual album is like some folk country rock album, its like seeing some emo girl make country lol (trash equivalent tho) also this band is not from the south like whattt the vocalist has such a southern accent in some songs. not really a must hear i'll say but its pretty solid, pretty unique sound for a country album i guess but im not really the guy to judge since i've barely ever heard any country album (i heard the man from waco once tho it was nice) also tracks 5 from 7 is so goated, Phish Pepsi and Candy Breath gotta be the best ones on the album. also something i should mention is that the lyrics probably talk about some shit but honestly i didn't pay attention to them because im retarded and don't care about lyrics but from what i caught those are definitely all some fake-deep bs about life and whatsoever

my complaints is just that its like whatever sometimes (what the fuck does that mean kobe bryant)
like i'd say some stuff is pretty forgettable, Reality TV Argument Bleeds is pretty generic and like 3 from the 4 singles are pretty whatever, also like i did say its unique for a country album but only for a country album, there's at least 50 indie rock bands with this same aesthetic, also honestly pretty boring for the most part. like Pick Up The Knife legit sounds like a generic modern indie rock song and also bruhhhhhhhhhh its trying too hard sometimes, Wasp is so ass, alvvays does the fake-deep shit about life way better btw and this has nothing to do with the review but i wanted to mention alvvays. if i had to describe it i'd say its music for people that played life is strange (and saved that annoying bitch chloe) the slower tempo tracks are pretty nice although there isn't many on it and they're probably the most performative ones but who caresssss (me) Gary's II is a good closer tho, it has a nice set of songs in it but overall something i wouldn't really listen to as a whole

DAY 48: TERRIFIED . BY FAKEMINK
loved the ep before this one, still play it twenty days later and this one had peaked my interest because the vibe looks so unique, some track names too like Creep or Like A Virgin reinforced it too for me but idk how to put it in words tbh its js pretty unique its like referencing some stuff (radiohead's creep and like a virgin is pretty obvious) and i gotta say its pretty good experimental stuff, amazing use of 808s and synths in stuff like All Eyes On Me and Night , Blooming Jasmine . gotta love those trap albums with this digital vibe, his voice fits so well too, not really the strongest rapping but honestly not something i really care about and its not like its the priority of it since its a spoken-word project, im more into it for the production. its very very consistent, kinda different to the boy who cried terrified since i expected him to lean more into electro stuff but i still really like the mix of cloud rap and experimental, ngl more experimental than that jpegmafia album (shit was forgettable af even baby keem's album had more hype)

pretty bloated tho, i have nothing against the sound but there's some stuff that could be cut out, Playlist . and Rewind are both good but nothing special compared to like a virgin or Kiss Of Death, also why does the interlude have seven minutes nigga cut that shit out and i get stuff like Jungle Affair . is to play into the album's aesthetic but the normal songs do it just fine, no need to add some interlude into it, at least incorporate it into some song, i feel like jungle affair would've fit in 51 Ttashpel Pony Ave . very well. i saw some reviews saying it sounds like the same all album long and i see where they come from but the quality is just sooo good, i could hear to some of these for days, 51 ttashpel pony ave and Hard Candy have such a good sound, love the hyperpop/rage sound on hard candy. i would lowk listen to a hyperpop album by fakemink i think he has potential in that lane, also talking abt the aesthetic again but it looked very familiar because it reminds me of twin peaks, idk but the girl js reminds me of laura

very very strong, basically my complaint is too many songs, weird choices like adding Fire & Ice . to the tracklist, sorry bro i dont wanna hear some lady yapping for seven minutes i wanna hear a nigga from london yapping for an hour not ts but i still liked it a lot, def one of my favorite albums of those i've done, not like its on the level of a everything goes numb (still a 5/5 btw) or the new abnormal but still very good, honestly what does it for me is the bass and those synths, everytime i hear synths i get hardddddddddddd
this is the type of stuff i want to hear more of, this fucking mogs iceman and whatever that asap rocky album was, still bro there's no reason for this filler why is Creed . and Forget me Not . in it, literally only complaint is that basically, and that some of the stuff is kinda repetitive but as i said its not really a problem for me. overall very nice project, really liked the aesthetic and sound

DAY 49: SUNTUB BY ML BUCH
this reminds me of boards of canada a bit (mhtrtc is their best album btw) and also enya (man i need to listen to shepherd moons) and imma say this album is pretty decent, i wouldn't say its something that noticeable to me like no angel was or the new abnormal but its a pretty nice project, i got pretty hooked over Pan over the hill and i think ml buch makes a great psychedelic sound in other tracks such as Solid or Working it out but i think most of these songs aren't really noteworthy or strong on their own, like Whoosh or Mirror bridge. very good album to zone out to tho like its kinda similar to goodbye world by miffle (goodbye world is better tho) but to a more "normal" extent (like it isn't as experimental as that album) but still pretty nice. also if that fakemink album was repetitive then this one is like two of those, some songs can really feel like the same thing and just bore you honestly, like vocally Flames shard goo really doesn't offer you anything and the instrumental just sounds like everything else from the project, again, doesn't stand on its own but there's some very good highlights like Somewhere to kinda bring it up

some mixed feelings on this, i'd say its like a 50-50 split between good and boring, at the same time it has High speed calm air tonight it also has Slide (omg dido reference) and so it has such a weird consistency, if like 8 songs here were cut this would've been a way more enjoyable album experience, like if tracks 1 thru 4 were pan over the hill and then ended with Fleshless hand it would've been such a strong starter, i think out of these 15 songs like 7 of these are actually kinda great. why even add shit like Clearing when its basically the same sound as slide? also some vocals are kinda weird, the echo on Well bucket is so weird but the song is still cool, kinda off-putting tho. could've been better without some of the tracks, if this was a short album with 8 tracks and smth like Mirror bridge as an interlude it would've been perfect since she really fits the sound on stuff like River mouth and not whatever flames shard goo was

that's it i guess there's nothing much to be said tbhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, gonna give it a 3 bcuz it has some pretty high highs and some low lows so i guess it fits in a middle score like a 3

favorite tracks: fleshless hand, high speed calm air tonight, river mouth

this is a 2.5 after some thinking, considering i gave at least she's beautiful the same score so i think its fair
also lol i've been kinda realizing that that special 4.6666 score is so useless since 4.5 is like a 9 already so the reasoning for having that one is pretty useless, i think i only gave les failles, man on the moon and yes da da da that score anyway so they're all 4.5s

was gonna do in tongues but i figured i should just listen to nectar already

DAY 50: NECTAR BY JOJI
i've began listening to joji since i started doing this reviewing stuff and like ballads 1 was one of the first albums i listened to when doing it and i reviewed smithereens and piss in the wind before, so yeah i guess im a fan of his even if he's extremely cringey sometimes, e.g. the majority of ballads 1 and basically the whole of chloe burbank vol 1, i've heard some songs on this album like NITROUS and Normal People. also cool set of features i remember diplo because he released california with that one trippie redd song and loved his prod on it, lil yatchy is cool too even if he makes some shit music (lets start here was greattttttt tho) but anyways i think this is def his best album, it improves a lot from ballads 1 and like how did this guy go from nectar to making piss in the wind? i know smithereens was a throwaway album to get out of his record deal (still could've been better tho) but bro he should've kept the sound from this album onto his newer ones, genuinely where was the energy from Daylight and Gimme Love when making that album, insane how bloated piss in the wind was but likeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee this one here is so good, i think it mostly gets out of the overly gay emo vibe of ballads 1 (honestly not really a problem with that when listening to smithereens or piss in the wind) while improving the sound of it, there's still some of it tho like normal people the mv for Run (its not like a music video changes my view on the track anyway) and i guess basically all the lyrics but im not one to care about lyrics if they aren't really goofy

i didn't really have that high expectations (or High Hopes haha get it) but it lived to those i've had, which were basically just that it would be his best album lol, gotta love the vocals too really enjoyed the chorus on Sanctuary and same with daylight, most of daylight is soooooooo good too, also the guitar at run really fits it, . def a big step on his career too, kinda like when tyler the creator released flower boy but ofc this isn't an album like igor, not really perfect but heyyyyyy nothing's perfect right like i think omar apollo's feat on high hopes was kinda boring but the other features are great imo, Tick Tock was also kinda boring but it has that one moan sample so its all worth it and i loooooooove these beats, nitrous, Ew and MODUS all have such a good production (vocals on nitrous can get tiresome tho but i think that's because i overplayed it tbh) other song i kinda find mid is Pretty Boy but i still like that buzzing sound on the background but honestly perfect album imo, there's like 3 songs i didn't really get into (those being tick tock and pretty boy) but they're great, like i gave going up by the rah band a 5/5 in my first listen when i hadn't really liked party games off it but nowadays its my top 5 of the album

loooove the energy on Mr. Hollywood and daylight, like this kinda upbeat and sad/tropical stuff paired with joji's vocals is sooooo great, 777 is also pretty great, mr hollywood isn't so tropical but still pretty upbeat, like the chorus is i guess lol idkkkk i think the whole album is a great mix of that vibe and his usual lo-fi mellow sound, Afterthought is a nice song too i like benee's music, hey u x was cool. Reanimator has a cool intro too, kinda reminds me of loss of life by mgmt but im probably reaching too much lol, could've been shorter tho but the production makes up for it, yves tumor has such a good performance. Like You Do is kinda whatever tbh, its similar to 1am freestyle and i like that song but idk it was done better there and uhhhhhhhhh that's it Your Man was good and Upgrade was forgettable but nice
its the rice field

favorite tracks: daylight, afterthought, sanctuary

DAY 51: SALAAM ALEKUM, BASTARD BY MUSLIMGAUZE
once again listening to weird albums from the third world, this time instead of finding it on rateyourmusic i found it on albumoftheyear so i guess its a step-up (or down considering rym is kinda better) but basically i was js looking thru the ambient genre to listen to more of it and i found a bunch of albums by this guy, who's apparently not even muslim he's like a white guy from the uk and idk how he's still making albums since he died in 1999 and his latest work is from this year? i guess he had a bunch of unreleased stuff since there's been a bazillion albums from "muslimgauze" mostly about wars in the middle east or whatever. it has a pretty cool sound i had never heard of "tribal ambient" before (apparently james ferraro makes song in that genre, i was gonna listen to rerex 1 some days ago but never got to it, its on my list tho) but like the opening track is so long, its literally just a loop of the same drums (i think its drums? its like those tribal bongos or wtv they're called) and honestly most of the project is like that, Dome of the Rock and Haramzada are loops of the same sound for like 10 minutes with basically nothing else added onto it except dome of the rock gets quieter and fades out, i mean, they're nice songs but at least change it up a bit, like it gets boringgggg quickly but at least it's pretty relaxing, also why is the track with "short remix" in the title the one with 12 minutes (it has a nice melody tho i liked it)

i have to say this guy is one of a kind, i've never seen an artist so weird like that, like this nigga pumped out so many albums im curious on how he didn't get famous outside the "noise underground", i think he can make a pretty cool atmosphere, Hebron Massacre (Short Mix) has a good use of synthesizers and i also found cool that apparently he uses stuff like clay pots to add sound onto the track, that song is nice but its sooo repetitive, it has some guy in the radio speaking about muslims that kinda makes it better tho, and it features some more instruments that weren't really present in dome of the rock or Salaam Alekum, Bastard (the intro one, not the outro with the same name), hebron massacre has a bunch of weird shit in too there's a bunch of stuff going on at times. literally the only thing wrong is that it just insists upon itself (like the godfather) too much, yeah bro i guess the children in gaza are dying but could you cut some minutes off the album? Caste The First Stone is also so whatever too, its like a worse version of hebron massacre with the drums all off and Poona Eunuch (Zealot Mix) has some cool instrumentation but nothing too remarkable when compared to other tracks like the first salaam alekum bastard and dome of the rock (as much as i think they're too long i still think its one of a highlight of the sound on this project, it sets the tone well basically)

honestly there's nothing that big into it this is just kinda mid, like this is so boring for the most part, Mandarin Guerilla was good tho its pretty good but the outro and Cairopraktar are nothing really noticeable imo although cairopraktar has a cool "desert" sound (like in movies when there's a desert and stuff, it sounds like that lmao) and there's no reason to add that outro, its literally the intro (with the same name even) but a minute and thirty seconds shorter. overall very weird but it was an experience, not sure what kind of experience but it was one

favorite tracks: hebron massacre, salaam alekum bastard, mandarin guerilla

DAY 52: YOU SEEM PRETTY SAD FOR A GIRL SO IN LOVE BY OLIVIA RODRIGO
waow another album with a song called honeybee in it, anyways i've been seeing a lot of talk about this lately and how great it is so i might as well check it out, not one to listen to these popstar women (except frank ocean) and idk what i really expected from this, i guess i just don't get it like i don't see anything special about this, like it isn't bad or anything but imo its just a normal pop album about love (lol kinda like nectar right jkkk) and it has some nice songs and a good use of the guitar in stupid song and drop dead (that song was pretty generic tho) but nothing really notable tbh. i guess its just not for me, which isn't really surprising since im not a white girl from the middle of america, i did like maggots for brains tho that song is sweet, like her voice is nice on the whole album and it fits well on the more slow tempo tracks but like i said, it isn't really something "new" or that i'd listen to but tbf i never really cared enough to listen to most of these pop albums and i guess the riffs are something revolutionary in this scene buuuuuuuuuuuttttttttttttttttt its pretty good even with my criticism, i may think its nothing special (bcuz it really isn't anything that special) but its still pretty solid and i can see why some tracks are popular since they're clearly for a certain audience and are pretty good like u + me = ᐸ3 and purple (honestly just maggots for brains until purple is a crazzzzzzzyy run)

it would be nice to see if she made a whole album with the same sound as my way or what's wrong with me, my way kinda reminds me of beabadoobee (beatopia is still a great album) and i enjoyed more the "girl so in love" over the "pretty sad" part but the cure is a nice sounding song, like its pretty consistent and honestly i prob like this waaay more than im letting on, its pretty catchy although i dont really like the slower tracks (except stupid song but cigarette smoke, less and honeybee were all mid) and i'd assume this is probably her best album considering the reception, i would say its deserved but i never checked out sour or guts, might listen to them later on as i still have time left. i'll say its nothing big on most aspects but its a step-up from last year's big album, that taylor swift album sucked and the life of pablo shits on it, im literally the indian kid who prefers kanye (shoutout digital nuts) and alsooooo expectations is top 1 on it anddddd damn she would really make a good album with that sound, i'll def see more of her in the future and this is a nice introduction to her work

so in conclusion i dont really get much of the glazing for it but its a pretty good project, wouldn't say its album of the year but tbf i dont really have one, i guess that new madeon album was cool tho even if i didn't do a review for it, it was like a 4.5 imo

favorite tracks: expectations, maggots for brains, my way
score: 3.5/5

revisiting some artists, figured i'd have a look at pomme's earlier works

DAY 53: À PEU PRÈS BY POMME
i still don't know french
i liked les failles cachées and i've been dancing around listening to her other albums for a while now because i wanted to hear more stuff like je sais pas dancer or soleil soleil, it doesn't really have the same vibe as les failles but that's pretty obvious since this was her first album, not on the same level but its pretty good also, some misses tho like Ce garçon est une ville is pretty bland and kinda goes nowhere but i like the airy vibe on the project, im sure she's saying some pretty deep beautiful shit but idk i dont really care for it, also cool to see how her sound evolved from this to her next albums, i really like the "chanting" (or humming) in some of these like La gare, sometimes it doesn't really hit the same tbh, Adieu mon homme wasn't really anything and there's a lot of stuff here that is so empty, like yeah her voice is pretty but she could def switch up like in Même robe qu'hier, it had a pretty nice upbeat sound that i think suits her really well especially paired with the chorus (and the "tam tam tam o ho" part) but it has a bunch of filler shit that have some potential but are just such nothingburgers, like A Lonely One is so boringgggggg like the one song that i actually understand she makes this weird song. she should've just leaned more into the sound of De là-haut since she makes a very good instrumentation that pairs really well with the chanting/humming

the latter part is great, 10 - 13 is a nice set of songs that imo, actually pass the image of the album well since Pauline is a more nice catchy song while On brûlera is more the "grandiose" part of it and Ceux qui rêvent/De quoi te plaire are calming with nice singing that did it waaaay better than in tracks like a lonely one, ce garçon and La lavande but its nice to know that most of my criticism was lowered in les failles cachées since that album is soooooo good, i really like pomme's voice and that carries a lot of the stuff here since the production leads to nothing most of the timess and that's it i don't really have anything else to say but in summary: it was just okay and could've been done better

favorite tracks: de là-haut, pauline, ceux qui rêvent
score: 3/5

DAY 54: TRYING TIMES BY JAMES BLAKE
another james blake album, tomorrow im thinkin of doing enya's shepherd moons but i'll see, i know this one is considered one of his best but if im not mistaken friends who break your heart is seen as the better album, which i can't really comment on as i haven't listened to friends who break your heart, however i did listen to both overgrown and the self-titled and i gave both a 3 as i wasn't a big fan of the singing, and after hearing this i can confidently say i have formed an opinion on james blake and that opinion is that his first two albums were js a rough start and this is a heavy glowup from overgrown, the singing in Trying Times alone is much better than 80% of the self titled, speaking on that, its nice that he kept the glitchy sound of the self titled on Walk Out Music and its so cool to see Through The High Wire finally out especially after it was ruined for vultures 1. perfect atmosphere, i did kinda wanted to see more of the post-dubstep sound of overgrown but this is a very nice surprise, there's some dubstep sound in it like in Days Go By and Rest Of Your Life, three or four would've been better but i won't complain too much since that song is very good. like even the glitchy weird pitched singing is better, Didn't Come To Argue is suchh a sweet song and idk who monica martin is but she really adds to the song, dave really ruins Doesn't Just Happen tho niggas from the uk with those heavy ass accent shouldn't be allowed to rap it sounds so goofy lol, the production is so good tbf it kinda saves it

one thing i always liked abt james blake is that his production is so well thought of (is that word right) and that was like the only reason i liked some of the songs on the self titled. lots of amazing instrumentals here, Death Of Love, I Had A Dream She Took My Hand and Make Something Up ESPECIALLY make something up im in love with that song, i've listened to it a lot before listening to this album actually since some rym larper friend of mine kept bugging me abt how this is album of the year and how i should listen to it and blah blah blah. yeah i gotta say he was right lol this is def better the 2026 albums i've listened to although i still think victory by madeon is a close runner-up even if the majority of the tracklist doesn't have the same quality as this one here or even the same quality as through the high wire lmao but i have nothing but love to that madeon album, very strong listen but wtv who cares abt that

it was a great experience and i know he has more stuff in the vault (james blakeeeeeeeeee please release what i would've said at virgil's funeral pleaseeee idc if it leaked and has 90% mumbled lyrics) and it has some weak stuff like Obsession and Just a Little Higher (anddd doesn't just happen) that make it not as enjoyable for me as nectar or going up but its definitely one of the strongest projects i've listened to this year and absolutely deserved to be called album of the year although i doubt it'll get those flowers sadly because it needs to be a little higher hahahahahaha get it like the outro of the albummmm anyways very good album that i loved (like love love love) and i finally came to terms that i like james blake (playing robots into heaven has good songs too but i never listened to it fully)

favorite tracks: through the high wire, make something up, i had a dream she took my hand

DAY 55: SUBURBAN DAREDEVIL BY WIFISKELETON
missed yesterday but uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh whatever it was 4th of july or something, i've known about this one for a while now because a friend of mine likes wifiskeleton (and jaydes) but he's a LARPERRRR since he didn't even know abt his commentary channel, also this is so short i thought it would've been longer but there's some gold in here, i keep calling ... is nice and i kinda like jaydes but he's such a case a case of wasted potential, that doesn't really matter though since this is about wifiskeleton (i guess he wasted his potential too) and yeahh this is pretty rough since he was still finding his ground and shame he really won't find his ground now since he od'd (just like kurt cobain!!!!!!!!! jk rip kurt cobain, nirvana has good music) also damn if ballads 1 was emo than this is like 100 ballads 1s, such a outdated aesthetic that should've ended in 2020. the rock parts of it is cool i guess, suburban daredevil is a nice song but 80% of the album is nothing, kinda like the pomme album, doesn't help that the songs are also so short but i think more extended parts for songs like girl would've really raised the quality for this project

like it has some good ideas but it falls down upon itself since its short af and doesn't have anything really captivating? idk if that's the word but it doesn't really move me or anything, Nope your too late i already died was pretty popular and my point basically is that the guy could probably make it big or at least have a nice music career if he had just developed his ideas more instead of just putting them all out in a 18 minute album. also it has some misses, if you hate me now it would make me proud - dont you wanna see me soon (also not counting the interlude) is so bland and such nothing, dont you wanna see me soon is also so baddddd the vocals are all fucked up and weird, party would've been better if it had a verse. idk what i was really expecting tbh, ofc i knew it was short by seeing the length of the songs but idk i was kinda expecting more of the sound on nope your too late rather than this weird grunge rock impression on most of it but that's on me for being a ignorant homunculus

overall pretty inconsistent but not really bad, i would put it above a lot of other albums i've listened to thru these days, honestly liked it more than the pomme album but they're kinda on the same level since that album has some cool shit like this one even if i liked it less, i see myself going back to some songs from this one like i keep calling or party (even if party is pretty gay and whiny) and guess that, after listening to all 18 minutes of suburban daredevil, the conclusion i came up with is: he's not better than nirvana

favorite tracks: i keep calling, party, nope your too late i already died

DAY 56: MADRA BY NEWDAD
another one i found from youtube and another one i've been delaying for no reason at all, also pretty recent, i thought it was like from 2022 or something but its from 2024, i found Angel while listening to something else that i don't really remember what it was also the visualizer for that song (and Nosebleed) kinda reminds me of the mv for weird fishes by radiohead (mfw all stop motion is the same (mfw nosebleed's visualizer isn't even stopmotion (i think so idk))) and yk i was kinda wanting to hear more shoegaze music, glad that i found this as this easily mogs a bunch of 2024 albums, imaginal disk was still aoty tho but this is so stackeddd, Sickly Sweet, Where I Go and nosebleed have such good instrumentation and the guitar on where i go is so gooodddd damn. crazy but i would say this, at least for me, is on par with the new abnormal and everything goes numb since those are basically THE rock albums i've began liking this year. another thing i like is that fantasy medieval vibe sometimes but its mostly in the visualizers tho and i kinda wished it was like a day without rain by enya and it had that same vibe in some of the songs but i think at this state its still extremely good

very good vocals too, kinda reminds me of imaginal disk since im a ignorant nigga and everything in this area of music reminds me of that but like Change My Mind sounds a bit like death & romance, the vocals not the entire song and another thing that this entire album reminds me of is beatopia, beabadoobee's debut still holds up to me for the most part but it struggled a lot to find its own area imo, which doesn't happen here since they basically mastered the sound of this album, idk if the vocalist's voice is similar to beabadoobee's voice but In My Head really sounds like 10:36 for me and wow this is so underrated and niche and larp and buzzword buzzword, most songs only have like 300k views at max which is insane, even nine vicious is getting more than that but anyways, i think the lyrics are nice too even if i have said multiple times before that i don't care about lyrics but it really doesn't have the same problem of many indie rock albums (not really indie as in the indie rock genre more as like these "small" rock bands but i guess some indie rock as in the genre too so whatever) that the lyrics are soooo gayyy and corny, like im pretty sure its on that lane as lyrics but i wouldn't say the focus of it are those, like not that they don't matter but you can probably just ignore them, not really on White Ribbon or Madra tho but madra is more focused on the instrumental so who cares. really big potential for newdad's music, they have another album so i'll definitely listen to it in the far far future or like 15 days max but i really liked, i loved it and i think i deserved it like that one soccer player said

some small thoughts i've been having, first is that overgrown by james blake being a 3/5 was a pretty shit take, i really really like that one, i would say my current top 3 is take a fall for me, life round here and our love comes back, really is one of those type of albums that grow on you after more listens so i would give that album a 4/5, very solid but my score on the self titled is still the same, didn't click for me

and, sex & food by unknown mortal orchestra is like a 3.5, after more listens it really isn't a very strong project and some tracks are just nothing i would go back to but there are some pretty high highs like hunnybee and everyone acts crazy nowadays, not really anything special overall but somewhat good

last one is that piss in the wind by joji, while not really a bad album and kinda growing on me with some tracks like ftc and pixelated kisses, is not on the same level as ballads 1 and more like a smithereens, which is a shame since smithereens was a throwaway album and i'd honestly consider smithereens to be the superior project, so basically what im saying is that piss in the wind is a 3/5 and smithereens is a 3.5/5, anyways that's all

Definitely in my book of 5/5 albums not a skip on the album in my opinion.
Also, I recommend Aphex Twin (drukQs is my favorite album by him) and Boards of Canada, two good electronic artists and very unique and of-their-own artists. BoC has a lot of albums and EPs but I would start with "Music Has the Right to Children". It has a jartycuck sounding title but trust me it's gemmy as fuck and not like that
and for Aphex Twin, I'm sure you've at the very least heard of him but if you haven't or haven't listened, I would check out Selected Ambient Works 85-92 and/or ...I Care Because You Do (lol xe predicted nophono). Two great albums.

DAY 57: POST-EXISTENTIAL CRISIS BY KIKI
since i couldn't really settle on something yesterday i just picked the one who got my attention the most, mostly because i really liked Eternal Ride off this tracklist lol but also the cover and the title sparked my interest, sonically somewhat similar (im a shakespearean poet btw) to madra but they're basically the same genre so its fairssss, i think it sounds like a mix of kero kero bonito with newdad, which is a pretty interesting mix since i think it removes most of my problems with kkb while keeping a lot of the strong points from newdad, pretty obscure too i haven't seen much about this or the band in general, a shame since this is pretty good stuff. one critique i have is that it falls pretty short on the second half when compared to the first five tracks, like Unwind is pretty bland and doesn't have much going on imo, nothing really special about it and i get its kinda supposed to be psychedelic but doesn't really hit for me and i'd say i like psychedelic music, Always is also a nothingburger, it feels like an interlude rather than a normal song, such a filler song, Cigarettes was kinda cool i guesss but it kinda has the same sound of always and like i said, nothing really going on there but maybe i'll grow to like it like the james blake album but i wish it had the same energy as XOXO or Get Up, im also like 99% certain the lyrics are some bs but im not one to care for them and i've said that like 10 different times already so its pretty useless to say it again but whateverrrrrrr

Antidote is pretty cool tho like it picks the pace of the album up but i'd still say im pretty divided into it, very good music but still not on the same level as the openers but i'll say that antidote is easily top 3 imo and im mostly talking about like the rest of it outside from antidote, like Cold Night and Alive aren't bad but they're a downgrade from the other tracks (except unwind, cigarettes and always, i could see an argument that cigarettes is better than cold night tho so they're pretty interchangeable for me) tbh i think cold night is pretty repetitive even with those weird sounds in the instrumental, they're nice but don't really move me, could've been done better tho i remember listening to other stuff with those things in it before. alive is very nice tho i really liked it, overall what brings the quality down for me is just that it has nice ideas but it doesn't really do much with those, still a nice project tho, nothing really bad here, just some pretty boring shit sometimes

favorite tracks: eternal ride, xoxo, antidote
score: 3.5/5

also, i'd say this is a pretty up-to-date top 5
1. 1am freestyle
2. feeling like the end
3. night rider
4. blahblahblah demo
5. die for you
lol funny its that the album is 9 songs long
I can see you like Kanye, so I must recommend if you haven't listened already (I'm sure you have) Be by Common, it's my personal favorite hip-hop album and the production is vantawhite, it was split between J. Dilla and Kanye

Never ended up listening to donuts. I guess I'm too much of an Endtroducing fanboy, evndoe it's the only album from DJ Shadow I've even listened to

My second favorite rap album is probably Super Tecmo Bo by Boldy James, I think it was overshadowed by his prior and larger release which was equally as good, it gives me nostalgia cause I would play minecraft with friends and listen to it at like 5 in the morning

The Alchemist is also a great producer so most things you discover by him you might like

Earl Sweatshirt, MIKE, some others I like and suggest

also Faces by Mac Miller, that's probably my third favorite. Idk, I don't really like assigning favorites to albums, I like them all. More or so particular "selections" of albums

you should listen to it, it has very good production
>I guess I'm too much of an Endtroducing fanboy, evndoe it's the only album from DJ Shadow I've even listened to
his others are pretty good, i thought the private press was cool but i haven't really checked out any others, i don't think he really has any on the same quality as endtroducing though even if they aren't bad. he has some gems tho, nobody speak and the six days remix are songs i enjoyed from him
>My second favorite rap album is probably Super Tecmo Bo by Boldy James
never heard of it so i'll add into my list of stuff to hear, thanks

>Earl Sweatshirt, MIKE, some others I like and suggest

DAY 58: OWL PHARAOH BY TRAVIS SCOTT
kinda like the only travis album i haven't really listened to, ofc i know about it and some songs but never really touched it in its entirety, i believe that travis basically never missed on solo albums (different story on the collabs since jack huncho is pretty mid and jackboys 2 is lowkey just bad) but i didn't really have "high hopes" and idk what much to say abt this lol its pretty rough, he surely was finding his ground and days before rodeo was such a step-up from this, the production is pretty good i guess, like i can see how he helped to work on yeezus when hearing stuff like Bad Mood / Shit On You, that song is pretty cool but nothing really notable imo and that's basically just my whole opinion on it, nothing bad but nothing like woooooooooooooow its so good, Hell of a Night is prob the best here and there's some fun songs like Upper Echelon (t.i. solos no diff) and Uptown but it definitely doesn't have anything interesting like rodeo or birds in the trap, i guess if he made more stuff that sounded like Chaz Interlude it would be definitely something lol but this is still a cool album, doesn't really have anything that comes close to a maria i'm drunk or 3500 but that's too much to ask for a first mixtape lmao

i liked the more relaxed songs way more than the energetic ones even if upper echelon is a gemmmmmm, like Naked is another very good one, also nice kid cudi influence on it like in Dance on the Moon and bad mood (and kanye influence on Blocka La Flame, that song is pretty mid imho) its pretty obvious but also very nice, really adds to the sound even if i dont think it really helps much on the quality factor (like it makes a lot of songs good but its still nothing really special) also bro why the fuck is the intro to Drive so long like come on nigga im trying to hear the music, shame since that song is one of the better ones on the album. cool to see how he evolved from kinda like a kid cudi wannabe to making some very good albums like utopia and astroworld, one thing i really didn't like is that most of the trap shit didn't hit, Quintana really doesn't do much and blocka la flame sounds so weird like idkk, like i said there isn't anything bad in here but its just not really done well, i think MIA sounds good but the other shit like Bandz really doesn't make me feel anything, i guess they're catchy but they're def pretty forgettable. kinda wished he sticked to the sound of drive, 16 Chapels and hell of a night but tbf he delivered the mix of this sound + a more defined trap sound in days before rodeo so im not really disappointed, so my conclusion is that its just rough but not bad, many such casessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss not really idk ion think i've had many like these prob like three or something

favorite tracks: hell of a night, drive, dance on the moon
score: 3.5/5
when da night crawls
i should prob write more too tbh i'll lock in over these next days
